Went camping in Scotland in 2017 with an Amazon tent my mate assured me was waterproof. It was a 24 degree scorcher until the second we started to erect the tent. It horizontal rained for the next 2 hours. The tent filled with an inch of water. Our inflatable sleeping pads were floating around inside. Then the rain stopped, the sun came out. We spent an hour drying everything and the weather forecast looked perfect. The second we were done it rained again and the same thing happened. The midges were unbelievable and we had no nets. We gave up, packed up our sodden possessions and drove an hour to a remote hotel, somehow we got a room at 1am. It’s the best pint and shower I’ve ever had. We were camping all of 4 hours but you’d think we’d been lost in the Andes for 2 months 😂

I used to camp all the time... haven't done it for a long time now [I'm 80 !] but I remember the mishaps, the questionable products, the attempts to make things work... with a smile. No matter the issues, I loved the outdoor experience. I have some recordings of rain on a roof or tent to help me drift off the sleep. My tip is to always bring at least two extra tarps, cording and hang whatever you can off the ground, in the tent or under a trap. Our greatest McGuiver save? We drove over a pot hole with a log in itand put a hole in our muffler on the way to the campground. No worries... we cut a beer can in half long way, wrapped it around the area of the muffler pipe with the hole and held it in place with some duct tape we always took camping with us... another tip.. duct tape will fix anything! . Worked so well we didn't have to take the car into the shop for a month.

@@grouchostarx531 I was camping in south Arizona for 3 weeks just a yr ago. Pulling over off long roads going nowhere, offroading where nobody could dare see me and then setting up camp. Was in an area of flash floods and with a 2hr rain once, a deluge where I even got to see a huge waterspout and take pics and video of it (it felt like I was in a movie, the news covered what I saw too) but as per my wish, I got caught up in a flash flood where even I was slightly concerned. Setting up on a really high hill after hearing weather alerts for a few hrs on phone, it was amazing but I never got wet being in the tent. I use a very durable tarp under the tent and it came with rainflap that works for $40. I was perfectly dry as I watched the landscape turn into a nightmare of rivers that kept getting bigger and bigger where before it'd just been dry land and very odd gullies. With 4x4 and a jeep 12" off the ground, I ended up driving through some of it but mostly walked around in the rain, jumping over creeks, stunned to the core having never seen anything like that in my entire life. I had a can of silicone spray juuuust in case but didn't use it. I never got wet wearing frog togs having best time ever just like a little kid. The landspout as the news called it (wasn't any tornado but sure looked like one) lasted 5 mins and was almost right in front of me. Cannot wait to go back this next yr when vacation pay gets reset.

The best way to water proof these tents is with naphtha and a couple tubes of silicon, find a bucket or plastic container like a rubbermaid that will hold what ever it is your proofing by stuffing it in the container, it has to be big enough because you are going to put about 1-2 qt of naphtha enough to cover and fully saturate the material and not overfill out the container, then pump in the silicon tubes and stir until mixed, soak it for 10min or so and hang it out to dry for 24hrs.
@ghoultooth

I used to dissolve silicone caulk (About a third of a small tube of 100% silicone in mineral spirits. Then painted my 18.00 nylon tent with it. The mineral spirits evaporated away, the smell left with it, and it would be good for about 3 years. So, i camped out all the summer for about $6 a year. And it's comepletely legal in the US to camp in any National forest as long as you are 500 yards from water, and a half mile from a campground. Where the actual wildlife dwells.

i love those little lanterns. we have a store here in the US called Harbor Freight and they usually sell them for about $5 usd or $3 on sale. they had a big sale a couple months back, $1 each, so i finally decided to try them out, and after thorough testing i wish i had bought more than just 2. the only thing that would make them better would be if they had 2 or 3 different brightness settings. but $1 or even $5 each for a lantern that can work for multiple nights in rain, sleet, and snow, and over a week in sub freezing temps, and still work as intended, and without even having to replace the batteries? i'm definitely not complaining

If you want to collect more water since you are putting up a tarp already, we often will put water collection at the corner of one of the tarp ends. This allows the water to drip off the tarp and into the collection device. Or if you attach a piece of string to the tarp and place it into the vessle, water will drip down the string and into the pot.

You set your can under the strongest stream running off of your tarp. And put the tortilla in the pan until it starts to bubble up, then the other one, then flip it and put your cheese etc on. Then the cooked side of the first tort down and flip it to get the other side. As far as the fajita tacos, after you open them and add the sauce and stuff roll them up into burritos and they won't be such a mess to eat with food falling all over the place. (Glow in the dark tent pegs, how to use guide / guy ropes, different ways to pitch in for example rough ground or hard ground). - how to wash up & basic hygiene routine on a multiday camp. - camping gear vs non camping gear and compare the bulk for example sleeping bag vs duvet, folding bed vs camp bed and your thoughts on 'glamping' - get involved with reinassance (can't spell), some of those guys have massive canvas tents, one person had a full king size bed at an English heritage event last year 😂 - aldi centre aisle bargains if you are going for wee bargain buys.

Thank you kindly! I enjoyed watching and learning what's worth buying and what ain't. I went camping with 34mph gust and rain once at the Texas City Dike. Had the same issue with the one man tent I bought from Walmart. It held up to the wind but the rain pierced through the threading like a hot knife on butter. The first time I camped in the rain was in Yellville, Arkansas I put the tent next to the bluff so I could look out over the mountain. The rain caused a mud slide and my tent went with it. Me and my friend in tow.😂😅 I was 9yrs old. My poor Daddy felt so bad when I came into the dormitory with head to toe mud and pieces of the tent at 3am. That was the old canvas tents back then not the new nylon kind. Thank you for sharing.❤❤

One time when camping in a colder area with rain, we set up a smaller tent inside a larger tent. We slept inside the smaller tent, and it was more insulated because it was inside the larger tent. I can see using a tent like that one inside a larger tent. It also would be fun for kids to play inside the home, and in an emergency at home, it can provide an enclosed sleeping area if the home doesn't have heat.

She would later talk about camping with me where the subject of my favorite camping trip ever came up and I couldn't figure out why she was laughing when I told her it was the one where it rained and there was mud everywhere, because there were also frogs, worms, and salamanders all over the place and I had an excuse to spend an entire weekend playing in the mud.

If you want to collect water from rain in the Australian Infantry we used to set up our Hutchie's and from each corner tie another piece of Hutchie cord and run it down into a water bottle, instead of dripping away the cord acts like a pipe straight into the bottle. In heavy rain once in the Jungle when our platoon was out of water and couldn't get resupplied we filled the entire platoons water supply in 4 hours. That's 8 litres per man.

Lots of tents no matter the brand tag are not suited for rain/storm conditions; and most likely not bought by hard core camping enthusiasts for that reason. Andy you did say at the outset your were curious to test the tent in rainy conditions. The tent didn't perform to your expectations. European and Asian campers who use inflatable tents appear to use a more heavy duty model and combine them with an extra large tarp and an additional ground sheet. However, as usual it was a great camp, and nice food. I have always wondered if there was an advantage to using and inflatable tent for camping in the spring/summer and if there are fine conditions I am guessing this tent would be more than adequate. If Temu were aware of the design flaws no peg out points etc I am sure they could do the modifications. Thanks to your honest review people have the opportunity to make and informed decision on how and where to spend their money. Thanks again, looking forward to the next wild camp. Cheers from Australia

Two main things I noticed about the tent was that the ventilation space at the top was too small, coupled with the inflated, bulky frame bits made the ventilation space even smaller. I don't think the tent leaked at all, I believe it was all condensation from breathing, body heat and outside temps being cooler. It's incredible how much condensation builds up from just breathing and body heat. Also, the sides not having any guide lines to keep it tight from flapping around meant all the condensation drips were going all over the place. All in all, it's an interesting concept but it missed the mark on a few places. I watched this video just to see what kind of quality Temu offered in their camp gear ~ I've looked at that camp light and stove, for the price it seemed like it was too good a deal for them. Thanks for checking them out, I'm an avid camper/hiker and love checking out this kind of stuff :-)

The budget Walmart tent I have is a similar design except it uses fiberglass rods for the frame. The issue I had was where the cloth material for the walls is sewn to the tarp bottom of the tent, the stitching holding it together was a bit sketchy. I had to Flex Seal the stitching inside and out to water proof it as best I could
