Sorry about the title, but it's a legit question.
Frank Lampard is arguably the biggest statistical anomaly in Premier League history. A midfielder that scored more goals than most prolific strikers and still bossed the midfield.
Having said that, his international career definitely could have been better.
In today's video, we take a look at how good he really was.

He finished 2nd behind Ronaldinho in 2005 ballon do'r but in terms of longevity at the top, efficiency and spending his entire prime in the most brutal league in the world, I think 'chubby' Frank did better than most of his contemporaries. I'm a United fan but for me, Lampard > Scholes & Gerrard in terms of productivity and reliability.

Im also a United fan, I think Gerrard, lampard and Scholes suited their club perfectly, i dont see lampard doing the same thing at united, I don't see Gerrard doing the same thing at Chelsea, I think the club in which they played definitely had an impact on their career. So I actually think there is not better player between them. But if you want to say one is better than the other honestly i respect it. Also if you want to say that lampard was more important for Chelsea than Scholes was for united I respect that and also adhere to that.

So true. Most people have such an incredible AMNEZIA when it comes to all the other qualities Lampard had besides his goals. Or they haven't watched him. Such an incredible passer he was, one of the best in the world in his prime. He was the brains of that Chelsea team from 2003 until 2010. One of the most intelligent players I've seen. These sorts of statements show clearly that you didn't watch football in the 2000s. I don't think anyone who did really has doubts as to Gerrard and Scholes being better than Lampard. Lampard played almost like a second striker benefitting so much from Drogba's target man profile. Scholes really was at his best as a deep-lying playmaker, and Gerrard played in a Liverpool that was far inferior to both Chelsea and Man Utd, while being the engine of the team, covering the entire pitch.

It's surprising that, apart apart from statistics other facets of his game is not much talked about. He was a complete midfielder. An excellent reader of the game. All round midfield engine. Tackling, going forward, tracking back, passing, everything you could expect from a midfielder and more. He seldom missed game due to injury, had excellent work ethic. Game in game out, he was very efficient and consistent. And off the pitch too, the face of the club and a fine gentleman. He is the heart of Chelsea.

But now i know it was primarily for the way he played, he always seemed to make the right decision (especially in front of goal). Lampard was a midfield striker, a great hybrid, along with being a hard worker, decent pass accuracy and speed, his weakness was leadership skills and charisma. Gerrard had Charisma, Leadership skills and just as good pass accuracy and speed but he wasn't as good in front of a goal as Lamps. Scholes is a mixture of the two, he has good pass accuracy, field awareness leadership skills and decent in front of a goal but he was the slowest of the 3. He is the reason I am a football fan. The first game I ever watched was England-France Euro 2004 when he scored the opening goal. I became a Chelsea fan and have loved him ever since. His penalty against Liverpool in the UCL after his mom's death was emotional beyond words. I hold no ill-will towards him as Chelsea manager, he did what no Roman-era Chelsea manager did before and successfully elevated youth to the first team. SUPER FRANK.

crazy how england had an abundance of centre midfield talent, and now centre midfield is england's weakspot. imagine having Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves, Beckham(played centre mid at real madrid). and now having to rely on Rice and Philips.

My favorite player. I couldn't go on supporting my favorite club after he left, it just didn't mean as much, anymore. After he retired, I felt a little dead inside. I still watch but I no more have a favorite player or a team to support. I still remember the serious rivalry and fights between Manu and Chelsea fans during my senior years at my school. Number 8, forever. Lawrencian, Batch of o2 - 11.

Lampard was criminally underrated. He was far from flashy but he was ridiculously efficient and consistent. He had amazing passing/vision, very good positionally, high IQ, and tactically aware. I think his playmaking was most underrated. He was creative in an unorthodox way

Can you do a video on Marco Van Basten. He was one of my childhood heroes. I honestly feel that if he hadn’t gotten injured, he would be considered an all time great. He still won 3 ballon d’or. He was simply magnificent.

HE IS THE GREATEST EPL ENGLISH MIDFIELDER WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT. Most goals, most assists, 2nd place balon d'or finish only to lose to ronaldinho, epl titles, champions league, domestic cups, most goals outside the box in prem history, most goals as a midfilder in prem history, top 6 goal scorer in prem history if i was a manager, im picking a frank over gerrard and scholes 365 FUCKING days of the year

I would argue that for most of Scholes' career he played a very similar position to Frank Lampard. The majority of Scholes fans who only saw him as an old man sitting in front of the back four spraying passes assume he did that his entire career but he only dropped back into that role in his thirties when his legs started to go as most players do. For the majority of his career he was playing as an attacking central midfielder similar to Lamps or as a number ten for a bit when Veron came in. Scholes spent a lot of time on the field in the oppositions half in his twenties and was probably known more for his goals than for his passing back then. I'm sure he still found his teammates when they needed him to but Beckham was always known as the main passer in the team back then. He was the go to guy for that kind of thing.

If I weren't at the game on Saturdays I used to do my shopping on the North End Road, all the markets stools would have the game on their radio, match days in the area always had a fantastic atmosphere. I would always hear the tannoy at home games after Frank scored. "GOALSCORER FOR CHELSEA, NUMBER 8, FRANK LAMPARD". And the whole market would cheer. Great times. LAMPARD IS PROPER CHELS, AND A PROPER LEGEND. 🔵
