Ex-NFL player, McKinsey partner, and current Washington Football Team president Jason Wright, says that bold ideas are necessary in order to close the inequality gap in the workplace. Wright suggests tying executive bonuses to their ability to elevate black talent, hiring based on skills rather than credentials, and retraining jobs vulnerable to automation. Other recommendations include raw dialogue among white and black colleagues and external pressures from investors and other stakeholders.

Should NFL and the NBA be given a place in the finals for bringing the most white players into the team? The reality is that the playing field (or court) is very unweighted right now.

@@kimothomas6164 Then you should dial back in time just go in decrements of 100 years and you will find every body was enslaved by somebody at a point, white europeans where enslaved by the ottoman empire which isn't very far in time . I'm supposed to be a lower caste Indian which should never be allowed education but because British abolished caste system i'm an educated person . This dosen't mean British didn't cause insane amounts of famines which killed 1000's of people and enslaved many more. Can I keep crying about famines that took place 100 years ago or be greateful that If I was born anytime before the british rule I would have been simply kicked out from school just cause of my caste ? If anyone plans to gloat over past atrocities they have whole Rights to do so but until you move on your will always stay in that pit. India was a far richer country before british rule but who really had the wealth , the average people or a small % of rulers ? Same with Africa , the wealth was never in hands of people , just like post Independence African countries which have been taken over by dictatorships who now control everything and are very wealthy while the people stay poor just as they were during and before enslavement . Look beyond American Slavery , If American Slavery is the only slavery you know about then you have barely scratched the surface.

It starts at the school level. Improve school infrastructure using local taxes means richer communities have great schools while poorer communities have bad schools. Work on improving the quality of education in poorer areas that can give kids opportunities to move out of bad neighbourhoods or even improve their own neighbourhoods, and the gap will reduce much faster.

@cjspyker 3 роки тому

@richdobbs6595
@richdobbs6595 3 роки тому
That's actually pretty debatable. If credentials were an indicator of skills, folks would be more concerned with GPA longer after graduation. Also, for long term learning, value from education would accumulate somewhat proportional to how much you had, rather than mostly being an all or nothing proposition. The counter argument is credentials are mostly a filtering mechanism, that employers use to pair down the number of folks that they consider for jobs. There is little effort invested into actually rating different schools for the quality of the education, and mostly the top rated schools are top rated because they reject a lot of folks so they get the best students, rather than how much those best students are educated.

Equality is a rabbit hole, no one is equal, it sounds nice on paper but it is an unachievable goal (and always will be) because of our uniqueness. If the goal is to root out racism and bigotry that is one thing, if the goal is to have "diversity" for diversities sake (ie. racism against whites in the name of "diversity") that is a non-starter. The best companies hire the best talent and if they hire talent just based on some "diversity" metric then by definition you are not hiring always the best talent. Fact of the matter is that America is 70% white and ALL OTHER Minorities are the other 30%. Smart businesses hire top talent regardless of anything but aptitude for the position whether they are white/black/asian/hispanic/LGBTQ or whatever marker you want to go by.

@@ad72644 LOL, that's called the real world, "equality" will never happen as everyone has bias. What could happen but also probably won't is equality under the law. I am no victim, i don't sit around and look at what i can't get and focus only on that. I moved along away from that garbage a long time ago. But hey, you keep living in victimhood land and i will keep on having an amazing life. Maybe someday you will wake up to reality and stop being a victim. Oh by the way that "statistic" you threw out there like it has some meaning, it doesn't. Especially when you use common sense and realize how many applicants in a nation of mostly white people you will compete against and then realize how stupid it is to put a % difference for getting chosen for any job. But hey, don't let a little common sense and low level thought get in your way of being a victim.

There are a lot of negative comments about this video, and I think most people really don't understand the problem: the problem is THERE IS RACISM IN THE WORKPLACE in the USA. Whether it is intentional or unintentional, RACISM EXISTS IN CORPORATE AMERICA. For a white person, you usually WILL be judged based on merit, however for the black person, your skin colour may also play a factor on whether you get the job. Here's a real life anecdote from a UKpostsr I watch: she works at a company as a software engineer and on some occasions she had been stopped from entering her own building because they thought she was the cleaning lady! Anyway, for those that are interested in learning more about this issue, the following articles may help: fortune.com/longform/working-while-black-in-corporate-america-racism-microaggressions-stories/ hbr.org/cover-story/2019/11/toward-a-racially-just-workplace Good day! 👋🏾
