Oh, they HAD to do it. Reviews are huge and if they don't address the issues they're doomed. The fact that they're listening and actively addressing, and reaching out to the reviewers, is a huge leap forward for manufacturers of... well... anything, admittedly. My father was an engineer and he would often write to manufacturers about some products, and even offered design changes. On a couple of occasions the companies actually listened and either adopted the suggested changes or similar alterations. OFC, my father never received any recompense other than a few free 'updated' products to get his feedback.

My mates and I were just talking about how most industries are following the modern gaming route: - Get a product out as early as possible to please investors - The 'early adopters' become guinea pigs - Updates are rolled out as the product get's ironed out This is the modern world of everything being online and competition being fiercer than ever. Most people should really avoid the earliest releases of tech and wait for positive reports or significant patches.

@@kilojoule11 Most software reliant industries are following suit. It obviously doesn't apply to anything else. Can't tell you anything I've owned with software that hasn't required an update with bug fixes, in the last 10 years. It may not be the most prevalent in general consumer markets (aside from the obvious, gaming,) but its still a MAJOR issue that can have some really bad fallout if the product isnt up to snuff. (Example: government forces civil engineering department to implement new third-party software to organize projects only for the software to literally delete all of the local and cloud storage for a project. Really happened, a 60 million dollar project just gone. All documentation, everything.)

Even some Vinfast was in the VIP motorcade when Joe Biden visited Vietnam last year. But in my opinion, the 53k$ price tag is a bit too much for the American market. 45k$ is the best suited price range for the VF8. But there are some reasons for the high prices. Taxes, import fee for some high tech stuff, shipping from Vietnam to the US,.....But i think when Vinfast comes into serial production in the North Carolina factory then the price will be reduced for the US market consumers. Honestly it's nice to see how fast they responded to this. I have a good friend who used to work chassis division for various companies, this was his usual process... They would actually purchase 2 or more vehicles that they wanted their car to be like. They would reverse engineer the things they loved about the vehicle they purchased. IDK what the VINFAST's process is, but it seems like they're starting from the ground-up. I'd recommend to VINFAST that they try reverse-engineering cars that they'd like to compare to. NOT to a point of ripping it off, but to see why their ride feels so much more different... Sometimes it's something as dumb as just a different supplier for suspension parts. Keep it up Vinfast. It's not an easy market to break into.

Electric cars are just another way for the globalist. Billionaires to take away your rights and freedoms. They hate that gas gives you autonomy. They want you to connect it to the grid. They want you to have cameras and microphones around you at all times so they can basically spy on you and monitor what you’re doing and what you’re saying at all times every electric car is a spy, mobile covered in cameras and everywhere you drive it’s recorded everything you say in your car is recorded and given to the government why on earth when anybody want that? Plus at best you get 10 years out of your car before you have to buy a new battery pack and that’s if you barely drive it if you’re someone who actually drives your car every day you might only get 3 to 5 years before you need a new battery pack, which is the price of a new car basically, why would you want that?

Just came back from back to back Vinvast VF8/Tesla Y test drives. Surprisingly, other than the very slight delay in throttle/pedal(0.2s maybe), driving experience and ride quality are quite comparable. And surprisingly, I got only speed limit and lane departure alerts during the 20 min VF8 test drive, both of which CAN be turned off. VF8 feels more like traditional cars, sure, the gear shift is a bit weird looking compared to Tesla's, and parking assistant grid is less refined on LED screen compared to Tesla, I actually gave VF8 a solid 7.5 overall compare to Tesla 8, but the fact Vinfast fixed so many software issues so quickly deserves some credits. Currently in Canada Tesla has 6.09% on 48 month lease while Vinfast is 2.99%@48 months. I am still a bit away from making a decision but right now considering services/warranty/rates/experience, I can't say that even with Tesla's reputation/history, it's a clearly winner compared to relatively unkonwn Vinfast. I'd say give it a test drive yourself if you can instead of solely relying on other people's feedbacks.

@@august4215 I mean if we are being completely honest, nobody should buy a Vinfast but you also absolutely shouldn't buy a Tesla. It may not be as bad as Vinfast but its like comparing shit and garbage. Teslas have the worst tech and worst driver assist in the industry bar none except for maybe Vinfast. Full Self Driving/Auto-Pilot is completely fake and made up and is just generic driver assist that is significantly worse than everyone else trying to do the same thing. Elon lied about FSD as badly as Elizabeth Holmes did Theranos's blood machine. He should be in prison with her for the comments he made to pump and dump the stock - saying things like we can do all this NOW when he knew none of the features existed. They just lied and said it could do stuff it couldn't. And there is no path forward for fixing it without firing Elon and starting over. Also, anyone who bought one in the last two years might as well put a sign in their back window that says "I am a proud Nazi which is why I bought a Tesla". Everyone that bought one before that isn't a Musk fanboy or a Nazi is likely desperately embarrassed and wants to get rid of it.

The Dodge Neon had significant suspension problems when it first came out. Dodge benchmarked the Honda Civic, but by doing so they made the rear suspension WAY too soft and it would bottom out frequently. Dodge quickly recalibrated the suspension and improve it the next model year. Vinfast has improved in a very short time which is great. Keep going.

So the fact it's not up to par with legacy automakers is to be expected. If it gets a chance at all like I believe it will, that's huge and a big accomplishment. I'm a Production Engineer. In Vietnam, Vin Fast is gradually asserting its position. Vinfast has almost all product segments from vf3, vf5,6,7,8,9; Environmentally friendly buses. I have experienced taxis and electric buses and found it really progressive. Now suburban farmers seem to be showing that they are suitable for electric cars with a range of about 300km.

I’m surprised by VinFast’s marketing and sales strategies in the US, compared to Canada. Up North, it is less expensive than an equivalent Hyundai Ioniq 5, Nissan Ariya, Subaru Solterra or Tesla Model Y (an AWD Model Y costs $10 000 more). It also has a stellar warranty, competitive finance and leasing deals and is available immediately (something that can’t be said for some rivals). I have actually seen quite a few on the roads already, so their strategy seems to be paying off. But it’s odd that it isn’t replicated in the US. Still, I have to say that I’m impressed by the improvements that VinFast carried out on the VF8, especially considering the timeframe!

Interesting, I'm assuming the price points have something to do with the costs associated with importing a car to Canada versus the US markets. As James and Nolan pointed out, the car seems like it is competitive in that slightly less expensive/less luxury range, so it's good to hear that they have a market where they're able to meet that price point.
@AdamSSh
@AdamSSh 3 місяці тому
@@susan_beaverImport duties seem to be lower in the US than in Canada (although this context is reversed for vehicles assembled in China), so it’s puzzling. But the automotive press hasn’t been as harsh regarding VinFasts in Canada compared to the US and the company has been very active on social media and at auto shows, like the one that just took place in Montréal (they had the VF3, VF6, VF7, VF8, VF9 and a pickup concept displayed and accessible). They are present in Canada’s 3 core markets (British Columbia, Ontario and Québec) with dealerships in the main metropolitan areas that are very receptive to EVs, too. I've got a '21 VW and its warning chimes are somewhat annoying, though it pops up a message on the dash as to what the chime was about - cold temp, lane assist. The lane assist can be annoying as it alerts to 'keep in center of lane' when staying there, or when going through areas like construction where the lines have been removed but are still visible. It does have a bit of a pull if you drift or try to change lanes, but that is easily overcome and doesn't affect driving other than a slight need to put more pressure on steering where you want to go. Sometimes it doesn't turn off when using the turn signal when nothing's in the blind spot.

The fact that you guys get upset about the car not allowing you to change lanes unless the blinker is on is so weird to me. In Denmark, all new cars with ACTIVE lane keeping assist will not allow you to change lanes unless you use the blinker. That is the default setting. Also - how else would the system know if the lane change was intentional or because of lack of attention, sleeping at the wheel or the likes? You CAN change lanes without using the indicator, but it will require you to overcome the force put by the lane assist to keep you in lane. Can be done, but much easier if you just use the indicator. Which you are also required to do by law in almost any situation anyways.

One word to describe VF8 is UNBELIEVABLE after my first roundtrip of 350 miles in one day! I would say driving VF8 is believing. In addition to other VF8 high tech features including HUD, face recognition, 360 camera, voice activation, heated and cooled seats, automatic driving seat adjustment; Vinfast ADAS and blind spot warning are quite interesting. On a road trip, if you want the EV to take over, just hit the ADAS button when the EV reaches 60-70 miles/hour. All you can do now is to sit, relax and enjoy behind the steering wheel and touch it when asked. Vinfast ADAS is like a cruise control, but much better with advanced technology. The ADAS will center the EV between the lanes and drive you uphill, downhill, along the curve road and between other vehicles; it will follow the same speed or stop as the vehicle in front of you, does. When you try to change a lane, a bright yellow warning on either the left or right mirror will flash if a vehicle is coming up. After all the due at sign in, my $200 deposit and my old car trade-in, I paid roughly $200/month after taxes for a VF8 Eco, which is about $7/day with a 3-year lease to own contract. It's even cheaper than the price of a Big Mac meal 😁

Not as poor as some African countries but not as rich as its other Asian neighbours or alliance like Malaysia, Singapore especially and even China but poor nonetheless. With it being Communist and all, technology was always a backstep and Vietnam only started being a production hub for the world in mid-2000s when company branched out of the west into looking for a more safe and cheaper alternative to the ever pressuring China to invest in thus a backwater Vietnam suddenly sees itself being thrusted into the global stage of a huge global production nation for the world. As said before, they went from nothing into producing stuff to making quite alot for many different global brands you're hearing or even using now from chipsets to phones, motorcycles, electrical appliances and even to clothes which is one major export that Vietnam does. Might not be an actual technological marvel but the leaps and bounds was that they had zero knowledge on how to just 2 decades ago and now, they're out there making cars, something some nation wanted to do despite being filthy rich but can't understand how to.

In Vietnam rn Vinfast is the only EV that you should buy since it has a nation-wide charging network. And their price is competitively since they’re made in Vietnam. Actually when they start to rolling out cars on the market, every other brands in Vietnam have to change alot, add more features to their car, better services… and it’s a good thing.

@Euroburger

Idk how bad this car was before, never even heard of it tbh, but you have to give them credit for a) caring about the customer's input on any problems with the vehicle to spend time and money to fix these issues, and b) the time it took them to fix them. Cause a) these "minor" or "easy" fixes require tons of extra R&D, extra safety testing, changes in the assembly process (for the physical parts), tons of extra man hours, renegotiating with suppliers, etc... . Imagine this with any of the big established car manufacturers.... a) they couldn't care less, b) if it would hurt their sales their "fix" would probably be to introduce a new sporty appearance package to make it look cooler and hire one of the Kardashians to endorce it, and c) if they were to actually fix the issues, the corporate meetings alone to agree on how to do it would take years and it wouldn't be before a model refresh so the extra costs would be minimized. And a good chunk of that high sell price will probably be shipping and tarifs, i'm sure if they would build it locally it be cheaper.

You do realize that these problems were really bad, right? All of these fixes were mandatory fixes, I'm not sure why you guys are lauding them for doing what's expected: fixing a defective product. And here's the thing: they fixed these on the next revision, not for current owners.

This review is much more objective and fair than the last, which was comical and heavily biased for no reason. For example, the first video criticized the VF8 for not having a start button.....wait, what? Many EV's today such as Tesla's don't have a start button - you just step on the brake and the car wakes up, ready to go. It's convenient. Why was that pointed out as a problem with Vinfast and not Tesla? See how unfair that review was? This review is much more balanced and truthful. The first one sounds like a badmouth campaign somebody paid these guys to say.

I mean, it's seems like a decent car with decent looks and a seemingly cozy interior. The price is the problem. It needs to be 10k less honestly. I like that there are brands popping up from countries that don't really have any car production. I would personally be tempted with just that as a selling point, but the price is aimed at the wrong audience. They simply aren't premium enough for the price and establishing a foot hold in the market for a new brand is best done through the low end. But they seem to be taking on feedback really well so I'm looking forward to what they make in the future.
