One piece you called a spike is actually a foothold to a Telephone pole. The L shape is to keep your foot from slipping out. As part of the pole there were several and the only way up the pole. Pre bucket trucks!

That "different spike" you pulled out at around 14:05 looks like a spud tool. Iron workers (and probably rail workers) use them to align the holes in two pieces of steel frames (or tracks/plates). Some have wrenches on the end, but yours looks like a pry tool maybe? Anyway, good video. Nice to bring along friends while you're doing what you love.

Y’all may know this, but if you’re underway on the boat, you can pull the plug and the water will go out. You have to have a little speed, but not much. When the water is out put it back in.

Nug, that "Tree House" may have been someone's tree stand. I know a fellow who says he tries to get up about 40 feet or higher to hunt deer. Personally, I don't like to go much higher than 15 or 16 feet when I hunt from a tree. That way, maybe I'd have a chance to survive if I ever fall from the stand. I don't think a person would have much of a chance to survive if they fell from 40 feet or more.

Rivers here in South Carolina are really low. You can walk across the Pee Dee and you won’t get knees wet. And you can across the lynches river and won’t get your ankles wet!!

The back or aft is the stern of the boat.

That big tree must be a Gum, as they are very prone to opening up with hollow openings like that. And NEVER trust stepping on the limbs, because Gum is exceptionally dense and strong, but when it gets rot in it, the limb can appear solid, but it's ready to crack and drop. And most old Gum trees have these old, stumpy nodes where many huge limbs finally succumbed to the rot and heavy weight, suddenly snapping off. They can be widowmakers!
