Lena and I have wanted a baby for a long time. Finally we're parents!
Having a kid is an important decision. Also it can be expensive.
Let's see what birthing cost in Russia is and how Russian
medical system works.
We're very excited to have our newborn Lisa with us. We love her so much:)

41 years ago, on July 22, at 4:22 am, I delivered my youngest son at home. I was alone by not unprepared. It was not my first delivery. He was the last of 4 children and I would do it all over again. I signed his birth certificate as delivering psysician. What an honor. Congratulations on the birth of Lisa. May she grow up in a world more peaceful and moral than what we have now.

I guess you hadn't learned that giving birth requires expensive, highly certified, licensed professionals whose fees have been grossly inflated by 'insurance."

Congratulations! We also had our child in Russia. We chose Russia instead of the US because of the cost. I'm an American and my wife is Russian. Getting our daughter a US passport is inconvenient, but still possible and not too expensive.
@Anonymoose66G
@Anonymoose66G 7 місяців тому
Well having a Russian passport right now is kind of shit, The USA's passport is pretty bad in my opinion, double taxation and renouncing fees are insane.

We did the same. Amazing private clinic cost us about $2k out of pocket and that was for a cesarean section, private room, everything.
@CashCatz
@CashCatz 7 місяців тому
@@Anonymoose66G I agree, however the US still provides access to some of the best paying jobs in business opportunities (for now)
@Anonymoose66G
@Anonymoose66G 7 місяців тому
@@CashCatz Yes and discretionary income is lower in comparison, correct me if I'm wrong but the country with the highest average discretionary income is Switzerland. Let's say that The USA was the best place to make money anyways for the sake of it, what do you have to put up with? A lack of workers rights, medicine and medical procedures are at least 4x the price of any developed nation, poor urban planning/design, the highest incarceration rates, poor education, school shooters, one of the highest gun crime rates in the developed world, etc, etc it's endless. To me it's not worth it even if my income increased say 40%.
@CashCatz
@CashCatz 7 місяців тому
@@Anonymoose66G You don't have to be in the US to have access to US income - but you do need citizenship. I live in Russia but earn dollars. Win-Win while the exchange rate is 95:1 and US dollar is still king (for now).

Speaking of medical bills: when my wife and I had our daughter, both of us were 43- and so my wife was in the hospital for three days after delivery due to "Advanced Maternal Age." Fortunately our daughter was (and has always been since then) in excellent health. Soon after we got home, I received a hospital bill (this was 2009) for - 60,000 dollars!! Fortunately, by then I knew how American medical billing worked, and that in all likelihood we'd not have to cover anything out of pocket for that kind of maternal care. Sure enough, we never had to pay anything out-of-pocket, and presumably our health insurance negotiated a much (or much, much) lower rate with the hospital and paid it; and the paperwork we'd received was just the administrative dept of that institution following standard procedures. But for someone in the US who's uninsured or unknowledgeable about such billing, I expect it could be a nightmare.
@RussianPlus
@RussianPlus 7 місяців тому
Thanks 😊 glad it all worked out for you. We were thinking about going to the US to do this, but it would be too risky, we thought. We didn’t wanna have any additional risks.😊 monetary or otherwise
@Rogerthatidea
@Rogerthatidea 7 місяців тому
With virtually any USA insurance, the allowable amount will typically be about 10% of the billed. And your cost share will be a tiny amount of that. Crazy, but medical billed amounts are a hoax. When I was in Norway my host was bragging about how little they paid out of pocket for healthcare. It was pretty much I paid here in the USA.
@jeffweingrad4658
@jeffweingrad4658 7 місяців тому
Most health plans seem to be high deductibles now, so you still pay more than you can afford. But mine was $60k with all the bills added up (you get a stack of bills, not one). Of course, even with high deductibles, you still want to be in a network. A recent $469 office visit was only worth $68 - and of course, which happens often, the office billed wrong and owes me money. It's a time wasting game.

Congratulations! Having a new baby is exciting and awe inspiring, but it is also challenging, exhausting, chaotic and terrifying. So my advice is to go easy on yourself and each other, and little Miss Lisa. Don't quarrel. It uses up too much energy. Literally! And ask for help or advice if you need it! Congratulations again! Be flexible. Keep your sense of humor and laugh every chance you get!

Congratulations! I'm happy you guys have a healthy daughter after trying so long. My wife and I are in the same boat; have tried for 4 years and are currently undergoing IVF as well; we have an egg collection in 1.5 weeks and my wife starts the shots tomorrow (and can confirm: US price for a single IVF cycle would have cost us $25k out of pocket if we hadn't had some insurance coverage for it). I'm so happy it worked out for you!

Ms Lena and Master Slava (not intended as to master and slave, even if a pun for Slava would fit in naturally, haha, get him Lena) just wanted to say both my parents were deaf (both deceased). As a young boy, I learned American (old style, there is a new stye too) sign language. Probably cried a lot less than other babies (my parents couldn't hear me partly a poor tasting joke). What I found out was most basic sign language is GLOBAL. Serving in the USMC, over seas was eye awaking (hearing impaired, lousy pun) was in Japan, Korea and Tiawan. Young deaf ladies met (5 at the USO club in Tiawan 1 night) and we hit it off extremely well to speak/sign together with each other. (I'll leave out all of the details). Learning to deaf sign is very helpful when one needs to communicate in a large crowd! Across a vast area where a voice would be impossible. It is also a safe way to communicate should there be a distressful or troubling situation. It's a life learning experience that will open future doors for all as the world we live in is really very small.

It's most important that kids can clearly distinguish between the different languages. We opted for mom speaking her native tongue, daddy (me) speaking his native tongue and we have a third, common family language which is english. so far it works very well, we have no issue with mixing but the eloquence and sentence complexity clearly varies between the different languages since it's hard to mimic the full immersion you'd get in a complete, single language environment. kid's too young for media consumption (in our opinion) but we readbooks in all 3 languages (obv), movies will eventually follow (focusing on the harder languages on of which is very hard, the simplest one being english obv) and we'll add proper lessons for the difficult one (with a different alphabet) when appropriate, likely in parallel to school. personally i think 3 languages is the very maximum, esp. since they may be forced into second languages in school which in our case adds a 4th rather soon and a 5th somewhat later - i'm still pondering on how to deal with this but it seems counterproductive. we're working on a way out of that....

Congratulations!!!!🎉🎉🎉 For Lisa to be bilingual, I would suggest you first let her learn Russian and then start teaching her English from the very basic things like the alphabet, vowels, and different words, and then she herself will start framing sentences on her own, you will just have to guide her a bit. That is how we usually do in India and you will see that most of the Indians are multilingual. Watching English News, reading newspapers then writing the same news in her own words will also be quite helpful. . . . While picking the baby, I think that Lena should also give a little support to Lisa's head as Lisa is just 3 weeks old and the baby's muscles and joints are not that strong to be kept like that.

Awesome! Honestly, boy or girl doesn't matter much, but having a sibling helps her grow with a playmate and not to have as much psychological problems in the future. You have a beautiful baby I hope she'll look like your pretty sister.@@RussianPlus

OMG I am so excited and happy for you guys. Lisa is precious. Personally, I like the name Nikita for a Russian baby girl, lol. I can't wait to see Aunt Galia see Lisa for the first time. Congratulations to you both and for sharing her with us (most people in the West don't want to show their babies' faces), and all the best to you from Toronto, eh? :)

you've had many sleepless nights lately. and It's been a while since you've had a good night's sleep. I think babies are amazing because they help us appreciate our mothers more. We get to experience what our parents went through, which helps us appreciate them even more.
