Gomez is a father that deserves appreciation. He’s been there for his kids, has a passion for raising them, loves them unconditionally, supports them, treats their mother like a queen. Even with all that he is humble and says he could have been a better father. Gomez deserves the appreciation from his kids cuz he put in the work and time.

LoL Arcane is another show, but sorta subverts it, I've heard people describe it as a Greek tragedy

Yeah Addams Family in general is all about that def reccomend the 90s films and TV show (though the show hasn't aged well in a few areas it was the 60s)

Only thing they got wrong about her bond with him is that she thinks he isn't a murderer. For legal reasons, all of those deaths are accidents, and she couldn't admit the true happenstance, but there's no way she would be surprised her father poked his sword in at least one man during school.

I watched a show on Discovery or something called After Armageddon, and they said the same thing. Rattlesnake is a fine protein source and can be delicious.

You know it's a fictional family written to be better than most real ones, right?

I heard that the original family was supposed to be a farce of other families at the time. Issue was the Addams ended up being more accepting and caring than the families they were written to parady.

@@Cynnas Yes it is fictional so are family guy, Simpsons, then people in modern family, South Park, Ozarks,and empire. The sad thing being there a real family's having more similarities with family gut, South Park, empire, ozark, other bad qualities personality wise than with the Addams. Reminder their family is made to be slightly describing, morbid, criminal, and homicidal at times. Yet still better than better than some real families.

That’s the joke. They are a parody of what Christian’s call the perfect family, they just made them kooky.

@@shadowx8145 roughly so. However, if you assume that almost all media portrays father's as being incompetent or bad is based in reality, I'd have to disagree. There are many good father's out there that strive to raise their kids right. But, I agree that father's in real life are often underappreciated. It really says something that some people these days act like fathers aren't an important part of a kid's life. Even though statistics show that kids without fathers are significantly more likely to have all sorts of mental health issues later as well as significantly more likely to commit crime. Needless to say, I still appreciate that Wednesday appreciates her father.

The three fathers on Modern Family I think are great representations of fatherhood

Taught her how to be herself regardless of what others think, remain true to herself and not take on a fake persona that is not her.

Teaching these things is the best a father can do for his kids.If anything happens to him the kids can survive and lead their own successful lives.Bravo to both!!!

Yeah, nowadays, fathers are looked at as the bad guy. The guy for all the kids' problems. I enjoyed the turn in this.

Raul Julia was perfection

No issue with Gomez. But people have been ruining this series for me. I've heard too many judgements of Wednesday being the "I'm not like other girls" type of character. When that's how she has always been! It's ridiculous how many "fans of the show" want her to be more normalized. When she is perfect just the way she is. Sorry she can't be a normal teen girl that's in thousands of shows!

While I won’t deny I grew up with the incomparable Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia as Morticia/Gomez, I am willing to accept a new generation and new look. :)

its crazy how people who didn't grow up with the original Addams Family don't know that Gomez Addams artwork was a short portly fellow. Luis Guzman a fantastic Gomez. Tim Burton chose well.

I think a lot of people commenting on here are NOT aware that Gomez was Castilian. I recommend all of you who are commenting against the cast, look back to the comic so that you can see that Gomes has been whitewashed all these years.

A man named *Gomez* is Italian? What? The 1960s version used Spanish words in his speech, even if he didn't have an accent. The 90s version was played by Raul Julia, Puerto Rican actor and now by Luis Guzmán, who is also Puerto Rican. Where did you get the idea that Wednesday's father is Italian?

@@CanadianTimeLord it's Gomez Addams. The creator was inspired by his hometown of Westfield, New Jersey. I think both the 1991 movie and Wednesday did and are doing a fine job portraying Gomez.

When I saw a clip of Pugsley stuffed in a locker and needing Wednesday to defend him, I lost interest in the series.
