This is the exact reason why he shouldn't be allowed to weld anymore. It SEEMS good to new welders who want to learn how to run their grandpaws old lincoln tombstone but will end up with someone welding something that needs a good weld to be safe. Out of the 430,000 people that liked the video there is bound to be someone who will imitate this.

The problem with this is that he is showing it on the internet to people who might not know better, and then proceed to do such sloppy work on cars, trains and buildings hurting people in the process. And the real problem is that without a proper investigation those welders might never even hear about them being at fault and killing people. There is no issue with doing that in your backyard while repairing an old fence or something. But nobody needs to see a video teaching this. Learning to weld properly is hard enough without so much bad advice being shown on the internet ...

@warrenmcelroy4718
@warrenmcelroy4718 7 місяців тому
@@Peron1-MC I would have cut out more metal and actually cut the angles at 45’s so they fit properly. But if that wasn’t an option i would’ve found a small piece of scrap metal that was wide enough to fit flush on the under side of the gap so it would cover the entire gap. Then I would turn the amps down just a little and laid down one good solid bead with a circle pattern, then I’d have flipped it over and ran a couple of flat beads on each side of the filler metal just for a little extra strength. Some folks don’t mind welding over their slag like that but as a rule I never do it, and when stick welding I never liked welding directly over top of another bead either. If I’m going to have to do anything like that I’ll use the mig/gas welder.
