Samsung, take notes. Arun was spot on with this video. Its not what you sell, but how you sell it that matters. So many features on the S23 Ultra, like Pause USB Delivery during gaming went unnoticed and took some digging to find. If Apple made that feature, they would have spoke about it for at least 5 minutes.

Facts! Samsung needs to improve their selling skills. I think they assume the average android user won't care about the small upgrades and need to focus on the giant leaps in tech...and while we do care about massive upgrades, we also care about the little things. Like the routine function where I can turn off fast charging at night, cap it at 85%, then 30 min before I wake up it turns on fast charging and tops off the battery

Simon Sinek does a great speech on why Apple's advertising and launches are effective. When I studied for my MBA, we used Apple as an example a lot for effective business strategies.

@@jackinthebox1817 I mean the iPhones work 😂 there's a reason why I had five Android devices this past year and none of them have taken over as my daily driver. That includes my S23U which will placed on my bedside table until the wifi 6 connection issue is fixed or I go traveling again. Most iPhone users keep their phone for about 5-6 years

If they're going to act like family members. I'm going to treat them like it. I visit their house, hang out and leave without feeling guilty that I didn't do anything for them. A Company should act like a company. Be friendly but clear about why you're there. Sell you what you're there for, try to upsell you on something you didn't know about and then you leave. Anything else is just embarrassing.

That’s why I find Apple so interesting. Everything they do is thought out thoroughly and it shows even in small decisions that play with your mind (Like beginning each Apple event in the same way) not saying every decision they make is perfect but with me being interested in business, Apple are a fascinating company to dissect.

Yeah I have noticed this earlier. The apple events are genuinely more exciting. The short videos that they make to highlight little upgrades are so well made and their sound design is also exceptional. Even tough I am an Android user and I don't think I will ever buy an iPhone, but still I watch all iPhone events like a movie.

I remember the iPhone 7 reveal. I used Android at the time and didn’t switch to iPhone until 12 but I still watched the entire presentation and remember being mesmerised by the iPhone 7 even if it didn’t do much the 6S didn’t do they made it seem so amazing. It feels like Apple really take care in making their products. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro that still looks almost like new and still looks better than most new windows laptops.

That's because all windows laptops are terrible - at least from my experience (involving ~3 windows laptops in the past nearly decade i'd say, and these are not cheap - they are macbook air prices). Awful battery life, not too fast, mid audio, mid displays, mid cameras. I have an old 2011 macbook pro 13", provided it's old, slow and battery has degraded. it's still "reliable", on the other hand a hp laptop - the battery stopped working in few years.

@@prabhsaini1 Not "all" Windows laptops are terrible... Maybe the models you owned gave u that particular experience. Some Windows laptops stood the test of time really well. Am literally typing this comment from a 2009 Dell Latitude E6400, whose performance is still solid enough for daily use and everything else still holds up extremely well today, even the display, build quality, and the little things like the keyboard and trackpad. Heck, I could overclock the display refresh rate to 90Hz, and it's such a joy to use tbh. I will agree with ur statement on HP laptops tho, coz even I had a similar experience with a high-end HP business laptop (not sure if its ProBook or EliteBook) from around 2011.

The comparison of the phone you mentioned reminds me of a writing trick where they'll show a really big guy the hero has a hard time beating, just for an even bigger guy to come in and smash the original off the map. Essentially it's a power transfer that makes the new guy that much more intimidating.

That is an impressive analysis! What strikes me is that there is no way Samsung, Xiaomi and the rest do not know this...or that they lack the resources but still they do not even attempt to pull it off. I remember watching Steve Jobs talk about things and he always had a story to tell. What amazes me is to think whatever systems and process he built to make sure Apple's marketing always put the story at the centre has survived him. SOme legacy that for those that realize how rare and incredible that is. Perhaps some credit is due to Tim Cook for this, certainly. Funny thing is, I've never been tempted to buy or use Apple products ever but I find the company and it's story(s) fascinating. Much to learn but perhaps not emulate.

Great video explaining this, I've always liked watching the Apple events and I always wondered why. I thought this whole time it was the way they present things, say key words all the time like "So excited" and "Today we're..." along with their body language looking so humble and open. I never thought about the bigger picture in their production when compared to other companies shows. Google do a decent one too, they stay in the same place and do it with a huge crowd but still doesn't hit as hard as Apples. Now I see the differences

Apple operates in a bubble. They don't care that something they've introduced existed 10 years ago. To their users, it's only existing now. They could say "this year we've added an in-screen fingerprint sensor" and it would resonate as the birth of a new idea. They've really nailed the "lifestyle aspect"

The human touch, the warmth, the transparency, and even just how friendly u are. I mean, u just got engaged! I think the newer chipset is really smart. They can bin the highest best chips for the small amount that use the pro model, then they have loads of supply next year, while still being ahead of most arm mobile chips

To be fair, i think there is a point to say about the clear distinction from apple events pre and during/post lockdowns. Before they were getting rather stale with the ugly powerpoint presentation but now they are really high quality and special when they switched to premade videos.

One of the things that blew my mind about the company was when they announced the effort they had gone to to cater for wheelchair users using the Apple Watch ie. studying algorithms to let people still use the fitness features. Incredible.

WOW. Every point you make in this video, stands out to me as also being applicable to my State Parliament and Politics. Framing especially, but also the production value in that the Gov has a lot of members and therefore resources and so they can push a lot of content that is higher quality speeches, events and PR than the opposition whose members are not so savvy, refined or adept at PR.

Hi Arun, I actually have an hypothesis which I wish you could try out. Recently my mum's iPhone 13 camera COVER (protector) was cracked and she have difficulty focusing when taking videos. So I wonder if iPhone can actually detect a crack or something and avoid using that particular len? Because the problem of focusing seems to be reduced after we changed the len protector. Not sure if it's really caused by the len cover or just the problem is fixed. Geatly appreciate it if you can help.

@@sherrimoquin5553 Because that's the point, I love the cinematics and the cool transitions ...I watch them for entertaining purposes and for the production value. I used to upgrade to a new Galaxy phone every 2 years starting from the Galaxy S2 to S4 to S5 then S7, S9, S10, and S21 before switching to Xiaomi. But I don't even bother with either Samsung or Xiaomi's events, I just watch the hands on videos to know what's new!

Also, I'd like to point out *how* the speakers say their lines. They're very slow and adaptive to speaking. It's as if you are talking with them. One thing about that is that it makes you feel somewhat comfortable because of the scenery, lighting, plant-placing, and more. The wallpapers also shown in the devices (whether a Mac or an iPhone) have color meanings behind it. Take a look at the iPhone 14 Pro. They used a purple wallpaper, a color that has been marked for centuries as a "royal" color, which gives this look that the iPhone 14 Pro that "This phone looks expensive but you and mostly everyone can afford it.", which also gives a sense of *you* into it.

I think the biggest reason why Apple events are different it’s because they “invented” them. From the Mac introduction in 1984, to the return of Steve Jobs, the launch of the first iMac, the launch of the iPod, or iPhone… All of those were iconic. But, more importantly, Steve Jobs. He was the best doing these events and, even though now they’re completely different, people are still pulled into.

Honestly I love the online keynotes. Of course the old keynotes had its charm but these online ones at Apple HQ are wonderful because they have really slick transitions, great animation and presentations and catchy music. It’s honestly fun to watch them.

The Apple events are like rock concerts in words. At a concert the performer(s) may start off with past hits and then, maybe not until the encore) once the energy is just right, knock everyone off their feet latest smash hit.

Apple’s method of guarding its development process by allowing people to know only the piece they’re working was used used 400 years ago by Shakespeare who only gave each actor his own lines along with the corresponding cues. He did this to prevent anyone from stealing his material and passing it off as their own. Apparently great minds, in this case Will and Steve, really do think alike. Brilliantly entertaining presentation, as always.

You have nicely explained about why apple events are more popular compared to android phone launch events as a tech reviewer who uses an iphone it is suprising that apple events are much better whenever I see one of their keynotes and when I see Samsung keynote once again I find the Samsung keynote to be boring but Apple's keynote to be interesting and not to mention some of my favourite keynotes in Apple are actually the ones where Craig Federighi appears and explains the event as well. From a subscriber and a fan of your channel.

I grew up being "Anti apple" and i still never bought an apple product. This goes way back, when buying a GPU to apple cost about 3x as much as it did for my windows system. Pricing is a lot better these days, but not being able to pick and choose what i want makes apple products still uninteresting for me.

I always watch Apple Events, despite the fact that I only own one Apple product (my iPhone 12, before that 6s, before that 5c, all second hand from family and not bought myself) and that I have no intention of purchasing another Apple product any time soon. They're just some of the best tech related entertainment and a nice way to kick back and relax after a long day.

I had an iPhone 10, and after watching the event, seeing the insane camera, the chipset, and the dynamic island, and also the fact that IOS 16 was my last major update made me get the 14 pro, apple did a good job to sell a phone

Mrwhosetheboss, great observation. Do note that a lot of the ways you said Apple differed from the way it presents information is actually now they used to present information to the audience. Apple changed with the times, their competitors are just doing what they did 10 years ago today. Apple used to hold events in basement-like auditoriums, compare directly to their competitor products and give you a giant array of changes without going into as much detail. The Apple way changes. They kind of do their own thing, they have some things work and some things flop but it's important to note they try new and innovative ways to showcase their products. Everybody else just tries to imitate the Apple Way. Just wish Apple did that with their products too.

I think whatever we think about a brand, their events or products is just in our head. If you love a brand, you would always see the best things about them and not the little wrong things about them.

True. But not all people think like this. Many people can still think objectively. No matter what brand it is, if the brand does not give them the best benefit, they will leave the brand. For example, I left Samsung because I notice Xiaomi give the best feature and specs at a more affordable price. But then again, each person is to themselves.

I like how apple shows you the inside of their devices sometimes as well. Think taptic engine, IBIS, faceID etc. They do these graphics that show you the nitty gritty parts inside the device. Their devices are so expertly crafted both outside and inside so they aren't shy to show you what's inside. I mean just look at a picture of the inside of an S23 Ultra vs the inside of an iPhone 14 Pro.

Very good summary. I also love to watch Apple Keynotes because it's a kind of entertainment like an ongoing series to me where I really want to watch every episode. Even If I am unable to see it live and I heard already about the new devices from other sources. Whereas the keynotes from other companies its enough for me to read the summaries of the specs and devices the next days from the media, because that's all I want to know. Also we used to play a drinking game in the past for all those exaggerated adjectives, like "drink a shot /take a sip whenever they say gorgeous". Luckily we didn't used "you" as well or my liver would be dead already. :-D
