The best comparison/example of Lemieux's greatness is this; Steve Yzerman, unquestionably a Legend of the game, has exactly 32 more career points than Lemieux (2 goals, 30 assists) however Yzerman also has 599 more career games played. That's a little more than 7 Seasons worth!! This just illustrates how insanely, RIDICULOUSLY DOMINANT Mario Lemieux really was. I rest my case.

Lemieux is 6' 4" Yzerman 5' 10". And remember Yzerman changed hockey when the league began using break-away nets after a not break-away goal post destroyed his right knee in 1988. It must have been hard to play hockey let alone make the hall of fame with only one knee. Case closed.

@stevie_unibrow9056 I disagree. Mario had Jarmior Jaga, Ron Francis, and Keven Steven's all top end talent. Penguins also had Peter Nevad and Robert Lang during the time Mario was there, so Mario had a great team around him, not for the first like 3 years though, but after that, he had a great team around him They even had Paul Coffey go there for at least a season. Jaromir Jaga is one of the greatest players to play the game. Had he not left the NHL for 3 years during his career, he would have had at least 750 goals. Mario had a great supporting cast as well, that's why they won back to back championships, so that argument of Wayne had more help. I disagree

Hawerchuk did well, considering that he was the star for the Jets and all checking lines were against him and he had no help. Under-rated. Wendal was originally a defenceman, and should have stayed such. He was injury prone, but a legend in Toronto. Sundin was a born right-winger. Mis-used in Toronto as a Center, when he was a Mahovlich type winger. Won the Gold medal with Sweden and took the MVP in the Olympics in 2006...as a winger. A legend, and would have been better still if he was not underused by Pat Quinn.

Clark may not have been a true superstar, but he was an incredible top notch mix - the rarest, in my opinion - of top scorer, and top fighter/tough guy. What will likely never be equalled again (and probably only ever matched by Rick Tocchet) were crazy GOALs / FIGHTS statslines like . . . rookie season 86/87: 66gp, 34 G, 23 fights (+ 10 games, 5 goals and 5 fights in the playoffs!!!), 86/87 season: 37 goals, 30 fights (!!!) including all the heavyweights (Probert etc) in 80 games . . .it's absolutely an insanely tough hard to imagine season, and obviously a reason why his career was shorter. But 30 goals, 30 fights in a season - you will never ever see that again folks.

They had to cut off the facemask on Irving's helmet (neck injury situation) & to buckle the guy down to the stretcher! As the medical staff were wheeling #88 of the field the Eagle Fans were clapping that he was injured! Philadelphia is a crazy town and for those meat heads to take a timeout and celebrate Mario's cancer comeback is awe inspiring to me! ❤❤❤

You should fix your chapter marker: - Pierre Turgeon, not Pierre Turon - Mike Modano, not Mika Madano - Mats Sundin, not Matt Sundin - Wendel Clark, not Wendle Cark (This one in the video only) The others looks OK to me (Although apart from Lemieux, I do not know those other former 1st-pick of the 80s)

Mario supposedly broke guy lafleurs unbelievable records in junior pro hockey. Supposedly. Still? Though? Guy lafleur is still the only professional hockey player in history to have recorded 2 straight seasons of 100 goals or more in each season. And the only player to ever record two pro seasons of 100 goals or more, period. A few others accomplished it. I think pat lafontaine is one. But I can’t remember? Yet the interesting thing about Mario and guy is this. Despite Mario’s incredible final junior pro season? Guy is still the only player in history to be able to say he recorded 3 points a game in a pro league. Not even Mario can say that. As Mario ended up with 2.8 points a game scored on average . In his junior professional career. Now Considering what Mario accomplished his last junior pro season? That’s almost shocking. Lafleur still ended up ultimately with more points a game. Exactly 3 points a game recorded throughout his junior pro career. Including 130 goals in 62 games his last pro junior season. Lemieux got 133 in 68 games in Lemieuxs last junior season.’ That’s incredible. Though on the pace lafleur was on? In lafleurs last junior season? Lafleur clearly would have ended up with around 150 goals in the regular season. If lafleur had played 68 games. Like Lemieux. Which still blows Mario’s 133 goal junior pro record away.

Sorry to hear about Joe Murphy. Why isn't he being provided with support?

wow .... Joe Murphy's story is sad indeed! Todays players would have way more support from the league and not end up homeless because of how he's was affected by multiple concussions playing a sport!

No. Joe Murphy suffered a traumatic brain injury. He left the ice bleeding from the head, nose, and mouth. His former wife said his personality changed that day. He became severely depressed and delusional. It's really a tragedy.

@cjm8160 I was a Blackhawks season ticket holder during his tenure. He was a fun-loving guy then. He gave a lot of his money to friends and family. Many players have reached out to help him. But he seems stuck. It's a real shame.

I don’t care what anyone says, Mario Lemieux is the greatest NHL player to ever lace them up! Fuck Wayne Gretzky, it’s Mario! His PPG when you take into account his limited games played, he easily breaks Wayne’s goal record for sure if he didn’t deal with all those injuries and cancer
