EY didn't fail in checking wirecard's bank statement. They resorted in doing such procedure because they did not perform/were not able to obtain third party confirmation.
@ktktktktktktkt
@ktktktktktktkt Рік тому
I don't know why you're defending EY. It's an extremely routine procedure to perform a bank confirmation to obtain assurance over the cash balance. If they had trouble or were otherwise unable to obtain the confirmation, that should be a red flag. At minimum they need to perform some other procedure to get comfort over the cash balance, not just trust some pieces of paper they received from wirecard or non-bank third parties.

@@musiclove3676 That is actually not quite true. BaFin employees were holding Wirecard stock (Why shouldn't they? Wirecard is not a bank despite Wirecard Bank) but the amount of trades that were executed during the fall is not as serious as it was portrayed in the media. If you look into it, you will see that it wasn't as serious. Naturally they would dumb their shares when the company is under forensic auditing by KPMG. Everybody who was holding onto the stock after that KPMG report was an idiot.
