Famous celebrities whom have been scammed have invested their money with crooked financial advisors. Funds were given to Financial advisors where the funds ended up going missing. None of these celebrities whom have been scammed had their bank accounts compromised. The fact that Ohtani's bank account was compromised, and at the same time he had no knowledge of this, raises a huge red flag. Its not like Ohtani gave some individual $4.5M to invest, and this individual skips town with his money. Wire transfers were made from Shohei's account, and the bank doesn't notify Shohei? Really? hard to believe.

@@SAHOVNICU There is a lot we do not know. Did Ippei have access to Shohei's accounts and he monitored the accounts and not Shohei himself? That is believable. I set myself up to access my parents' various accounts because they are elderly and my stepfather has Alzeimer's. I regularly transfer money, pay their bills, change their account settings, have their statements mailed to me, and they are completely out of the loop. I don't recall anyone from the institutions ever contacting my parents directly. I did all this without having to talk to anyone in person. I did it all online. I just needed their account names, account number, social security numbers, birth dates and in some instances a recent statement or their old password. Another thing: Shohei must have dozens, if not more people, doing all kinds of things for him. When this happens, the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. I worked in the financial field for 20 years and people in the industry are very specialized and just focused on their own responsibility. They know their particular job but don't know what other people are doing. Or they assume other people will be take care of things. It is known as the diffusion of responsbility or bystander effect. It's like that Kitty Genovese incident where she was raped and killed over a long period of time in an apartment complex but no one helped and apparently no one called the police, or if they did, the police did not come.

You do realize you can make wire transfers over the phone right? It's not hard to pretend to be someone else over the phone

Even if that were possible which I doubt, the bank would not simply transfer the money without some form of authentication. At the very least the bank would call or text the account holder and ask if this transaction was legit.

Several interpreters have come out and said it's common for them to handle bank accounts for their clients. If you have really been paying attention, Ippei lied about his education, his previous work, etc. Guy lied to ESPN about Sho paying, lied to Sho's people, then got caught.
