my 7.3 01 f450 leaks 2 quarts of oil per 4 tanks of diesel 😂

Tons of leaks bad sensors but none of it is ever even serious just a small amount of effort and they Rip . And will take you to work . And than you can go even furtherrrrr if you want .

If you replace the oil pump with some other new oil pump it suposedly fixes that, now my 7.3 has never leaked it's a 03' (last year of 7.3)

They are definitely not fast, but they’re faster than that. There’s something wrong with the truck.

@@danielli959 Diesels are fuel savers. I guess I should have pointed out that mine is a diesel in the comment. They do have down sides and one of those is repair cost. Everything on a diesel is heavy duty and expensive.

I understand anyone who questions why you’d want a big diesel especially if you never pull it even own a trailer or boat or what have ya. There are plenty of reasons ! The big three are yes towing is a given, but then the truck may have been given to the driver by a family member, a hand me down as such, any vehicle is better than no vehicle most of the time. Then finally is the America answer: because you like it! Mine is to pull a travel trailer, but two of the best sounds on earth are Pitter Patter and diesel clatter! My kids and my truck!

I don’t know 350 chevy are awesome for gas burners hell I seen some with 500,000 and that a gas burner doings that’s pretty much 700,000 thousand if you wanna compare gas to diesel but I’m not doggin on 7.3s because I rode in one that had 723,000 and I’ve personally never seen that truck unhooked from a tralier

@@JSTruckRepairif it blew, it was only out of negligence of whatever dumbazz bought it. A decently maintained 7.3 will run to nearly one-million miles easily.

All it takes is a high pressure oil line to blow or the oil feed into the turbo to blow and lose oil pressure and a drive not realize and she’s done. It was a work truck that was used and abused pulling skid steers and mini’s for years. Company trucks never last as long

not mine ; D have a 1990 ranger 2.3l , The engine is the same block as a 2.3t mustang just buy new pistons and injectors n get a turbo on it "the little 2.3l that could!" (It did cost me around 10k 0-0)

Yep. The valve bodies aren’t great in these. I guess the 02-03 trucks don’t like the Hydra Tunes too much. Had to put their “hybrid trans” tunes on mine.

All box trucks are slugs haha. My truck had some issues on this day. It had multiple bad injectors and a bad turbo.

@@JSTruckRepair That makes sense, it’s the only other 7.3 powerstroke I’ve ever driven, I believe it was a F550 if I remember right. It would be cool to see your truck running now that it’s fixed, thanks for the reply!

My Speedometer only reads 85, I don't know how fast I've had mine, but i have oversized injectors and a slightly larger Turbo out of a Van and a T. S chip

350k miles, probably overweight, junk injectors, and trash glow plugs. That’s for starters. She’s fixed now though

@@centraltexasfoxbodies I know this. Been a diesel mechanic for 8 years. Just stating an issue. Glow plugs were so junk the truck wouldn’t start on a warm summer day unless the block heater was plugged in and she got some spray

@@Lamtitude this one has issues when this video was made. I did this as a joke since so many people called them underpowered trucks. It had multiple bad injectors, a bad turbo, and I can’t remember what else. I took this on the way back to my shop. I’ve had many 7.4’s they are great trucks. Just like any other diesel eventually you’ll have to do injectors, glow plugs, and a turbo. But they last a long time if taken care of. They don’t seem to have the high pressure oil pump issues like the 6.0’s have

And that transmission will be at 4grand steady lol

What rpm are you running going 70mph and what kind of gas mileage you get? I am getting the same year and looking for upgrades.

My truck runs 2k @ 70mph. It has 3.73 gearing in the rear end. These trucks also had 4.10 gearing. I get about 19-20 mpg at that speed with my chip in my 100hp tow tune setting. This is an XL crew cab long bed 2wd configuration mind you.

@StatusQuoDefier 20 mph is much more than i was thinking damn. At 70 mph, my 5.0 f150 doesn't even get 18 mpg. The truck im buying is a 2002 xlt, obviously 7.3, but with 4x4, tow package, and a crew cab. Also has the long bed dually. I'm not sure of the gearing, but if it has 4.10, I'll probably drop to 3.73 as i have heard nothing but good things about it.

I replied to some other comments on here. This video was made as a joke to 7.3 being lower on power compared to some other diesels. I made this video on the way back to my work before tearing it apart. It was a used and abused f550 service truck. All 8 glow plugs were junk and it wouldn’t start in the dead of summer unless the block heater was plugged in for some reason and she got a squirt of either. It had blown o- rings on the injectors putting diesel in the oil. So all 8 Injectors got rebuilt, all 8 glow plugs, the exhaust gaskets on the up pipes got replaced, got a brand new turbo, fixed the boost leaks, and I’m sure there’s more. This video was taken about 4 years ago and it had 330k on it then and the odo stopped working eventually. I no longer work at this place, but I seen the truck for sale on marketplace over summer with a blown motor and a good running 7.3 to go with it when bought. Not sure what happened. Wouldn’t be surprised if it had over 450k miles on it

@@GoofiestAhhGoober she got all the injectors rebuilt, new turbo, new exhaust gaskets, all new glow plugs, few other goodies. Truck got to 400k something miles and it blew last summer.

The odometer quit working a few years ago. It was actually way higher. The motor died last summer.

It was I took this video on the way back to my shop. Rebuilt all eight injectors, new glow plugs, and a new turbo and exhaust gaskets

@@JSTruckRepair mine is basically stock. I got a deal but put a transmission in a couple years later but She rolls! 95 flat bed dually f250 xlt. I hauled a small backhoe with it 100-150 miles frw times a month. It requires tinkering but normal stuff! UKposts has solved them all! Im no mechanic by far!

@@adamsimber6388 this one is a 99’ F550 single cab with the long bed. It has a service truck bed on it. Loaded completely with tools, miller welder, air compressor, an off road fuel tank, a coolant tank. She’s got some weight.

@@deeznuts-ph5tp it’s been that way for me so far. I’ve literally never had a point where it’s broken down.

7.3’s are reliable after you’ve spent thousands of dollars changing parts on them every now and then lol. In the 2 years I worked for this company that had this truck the only thing we did to it in 2 years was put new O-rings on the injectors, and replaced one or two of them. Replaced the turbo cause it started to have some play, a new ICP and new IPR sensor, a new fuel tank lift pump and all new glow plugs. And this was all done in 1 haul. Nothing major, but on top of regular maintenance that’s still quite a bit of money.

@@JSTruckRepair I don’t remember all I’ve done to my 7.5. I remember changing the distributor, because the original one had completely broken in half, and of course changing spark plugs, but other than that, I believe everything’s original. A few upgrades were done, like a bigger alternator, and a cold air intake. Still fires up every time I turn the key.

As long as your turbo isn’t blown and your injectors are healthy 🙃
