Sorry, you got motion sickness when it was time to enjoy the run. Anyway I tell you a little secret. Next time you're going to get in this motion thing again, boil a few slice fresh ginger and add honey to mild sweetness. You will thank yourself you did. Let me know if this home remedy work for you. Last time I ask my daughter to use when she was coming to Virginia. She smiles and said dad your recipe work like a charm. HuGGs Sam.

Don't feel bad LT. I had the same experience during my orientation flight in the F-16 while stationed at Torrejon Spain. We did a max climb take off and were the lead ship for a flight of four up to the bomb range. Our left wing was our Wing CC. We dropped bombs and shot 20 MM rounds at several targets. When the 20 MM goes off it shakes the plane pretty violently. I didn't spew until we were on our way back to the base. Pulled 7.5 + Gz it was awesome. Kept my lights the whole time. AIM HIGH AF. GO AF BEAT ARMY & NAVY. Peace out.

He was an aircraft mechanic that originally started on T-Birds and Hercules, then eventually moved on the F-18's I've been lucky enough to go to see some cool things with the F-18's the most memorable is sitting in it while doing a run up with afterburners on. I'll never forget that, especially as a kid I was mind blown. Then just exploring the hangers during down time. I guess that's the benefit of a small town yet a large base. "Cold Lake" anyways great video, brings back memories!

Using a jet typically involves the following steps: 1. Pre-flight checks: Ensure the jet is in proper working condition by checking fuel levels, engine status, and any other necessary systems. 2. Boarding: Enter the jet and stow any luggage in designated areas. Take your seat and fasten your seatbelt. 3. Starting the engines: Follow the specific procedures outlined in the jet's manual or by a qualified pilot. This usually involves turning on various systems and starting the engines. 4. Taxiing: Once the engines are running, the jet can be taxied to the runway under its own power. 5. Takeoff: Follow the instructions of air traffic control (ATC) for clearance to take off. Increase throttle to accelerate down the runway and lift off into the air. 6. In-flight procedures: Once airborne, follow the planned flight path and altitude. Monitor instruments, communicate with ATC, and navigate as required. 7. Landing: As you approach your destination, follow ATC instructions for landing clearance. Descend and align the jet with the runway, reduce speed, and touch down smoothly. 8. Post-flight: Shut down the engines, disembark from the jet, and secure any belongings. Remember, operating a jet requires proper training and certification. Always adhere to safety protocols and regulations.

Well howdy Lt. Sam! Way back in 1979 when I was in the Navy, I got to experience the ultimate rush of flying in the backseat of a T-38. A beautiful little white one that was the base Commander's personal aircraft. Its primary mission was photo chaseplane where I was stationed at the Naval Weapons Center, in China Lake, California. Twice a month, the Commander would authorize a ride-along for any sailor on the base who wanted to sign up. So of course, I signed up. The entire experience was absolutely awesome! From when I first climbed aboard that old C-47 to go to Lemoore Naval Air Station for orientation and training, until the time we landed safely back home after the mission, it has yet to be topped by any other experience I've ever had in my 64 years so far. I was fortunate enough to fly on an actual photo-chase mission. The pilot's mission that day was to follow and video an F-14 Tomcat as it intercepted and shot down a remotely-controlled F-86 Sabre. So needless to say, I got the full treatment! I got to experience air combat maneuvering at its most extreme. Not at all what I was expecting for a first flight! Even though I felt like I'd been beaten up by a bar full of bikers when it was all over, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! Thank you for your service, and for putting this video out for others to enjoy. Lone Wolf Bill.

I did a sortie in an RAF Hawk which is similar to the T38. I was concerned about the ejector seat and throwing up but thankfully managed it. The training was good and my pilot was superb - later went to the Red Arrows (UK version of the Thunderbirds). A great experience but after 1:40 sortie I was exhausted after the G. I was surprised you were not wearing gloves.

I flew with an RAAF pilot in a RedBull racing plane, the same insane one they use in their races you’ve probably seen before. Doing aerial acrobatics thousands of feet above the coast of NSW on a perfectly clear early summer day is something I’ll never forget. Pulled 8Gs at our maximum and I handled it extremely well, never felt lightheaded or disoriented once. The negative 4 Gs we pulled did not feel nice though

What a beautifully streamlined steed the T-38 is!!!!. I never get tired of watching it whether parked on the ground or pretty much airborne!.

Super video, very detailed! I also had flown the T-38 at Holloman AFB in 1986. I too got ill only because the pilot rolled right while I was looking out left. A pilot myself I was allowed to fly the aircraft and noted the super sensitivity of the roll and pulling some G’s. As long as I was flying the jet I didn't feel sick, and 100% O2 helped.

Cool shooting. I wish I had the capability in my flight time in the T-37. That was 1985 at Williams. What a great time when I got the stick from my instructor and got to put it thru some paces. The only thing that rivaled that as aerobatic flying in an open cockpit Pitts biplane. Thanks for showing us that Talon.

What an incredible opportunity! Very well filmed and produced too! I love the direction and flexibility you have as a PAO. My wife was USAF PA and I always told her I would divorce her if she ever got a buddy ride before I did. Sadly neither one of us got one.

Congrats on being able to do this. For someone who gets motion sickness you did great. No way could I have done it. I enlisted in the USAF in 2001 but unbeknownst to me I had to get a medical discharge due to an illness that I didn’t know that I had and found out in the past few years I had way more than that going on. My dad served in the USAF and retired as a major. You got to do what many people only get to dream of!

Oh man, how much do I want to experience this!! As a kid in air cadets, we got to run around in the back of an RAF Hurcules as they practiced touch and go landings. Sort of a toned down vomit comet, we could jump the length of the aircraft as it pitched forward. Hell I'd give a kidney to do that again. Feel sorry for you motion sickness guys not being able to fully enjoy the flight!!

Don’t be sad man. People disrespect everything as it is NOT the SUBJECT that is worth disrespecting because that does not exist in reality. It is just the structure of the human brain.

Excellent production - professional quality throughout..BTW - that last 'surprise' was simply the break for landing.. you did really well to hold everything down on an operational sortie - not a ride-along.
@timothywitt4864
@timothywitt4864 3 роки тому
I don't think this was an operational training sortie. This looks like a standard incentive ride for non flyers. We had a flight surgeon psychiatrist assigned to our squadron who went on an operational training mission while we were deployed on a weapons training deployment. He wanted to see a full up mission for his professional education. He got so sick that he had to be hospitalized after landing. He didn't even make it to the range before his pilot said he needed to knock it off and return to base. I get a kick out of people who think they're hot sticks because they can fly some fighter simulation on their home computer and then go fly an actual fighter. It's more than pushing buttons and moving a joystick.

Loved this video for two reasons. One I flew C-130's out of Langley, then later I was a T-38 flight instructor. it brought together two amazing times in my life. I loved both airplanes. I flew around the world in one and was fortunate to be a T-38 flight instructor for the first class of female pilots in the other. Loved it.

Great video, Sam! I love that you're not the least bit worried about the airsickness. Pulling those kind of G's isn't natural, nor is wearing all that gear. I heartens me to see nothing but positive comments about your experience. Any desire to go to UPT? Regardless, thanks again for sharing a little bit of the USAF with us.
