Friends who come to visit Italy, you have to enjoy my country, therefore, take the cappuccino when you prefer ^^, at most the waiter will widen his eyes a little, but the important thing is that you relax. What the video suggests about overpriced restaurants is true, so it is better to look in secondary streets and choose those frequented by Italian workers; during car trips, a good sign is a restaurant with a parking lot full of trucks ^^ truck drivers love to eat well and a good quality - price ratio; you are welcome and have fun in Italy .

My partner and I went to Italy in 2012. We went for 3 weeks, and rented an apartment in Lucca. We felt it was the best way to experience life in Italy. Unfortunately I didn’t learn Italian, I used notes to ask questions, but then had no hope of understanding the reply 😂. I found that it was the women who mostly spoke English. We enjoyed the Italian breakfast experience of coffee, a danish, and panini. We did travel by hire car, to visit my partners grandfathers village, and that was an adventure. Our time there, in our 700 year old apartment was fantastic, we loved every minute. The people were friendly, and the food was fantastic. We had such a wonderful experience that we felt we could have stayed there forever.

3:35 bottom text: it’s POLPETTE, not “polpetti” 🙂 Apart from this little mistake, as an Italian I can affirm that this video is pretty much accurate! To be honest it’s not that true that you should not expect “extreme” nightlife here, it simply depends on where are you going in terms of cities (there are some which are more inclined to nightlife as compared to others, of course) and places within that city (pubs, discos, clubs usually target different types of customers). Enjoy your stay in our wonderful Country, have fun and remember to get home at the end of your vacation a free souvenir you really can’t miss: a piece of Italy in your heart for the rest of your life! 🇮🇹

I can confirm everything is correct, but for 2 things. Italy actually is famous for nightlife (okay, maybe we don't have exactly an Ibiza in Italy, but honestly Ibiza is nowhere else in the world): big cities like Rome and Milan are full of clubs open all year long, but also university cities like Bologna have vibrant nightlife, on top of holiday places like Gallipoli, Sardinia, Eolie Islands and Riviera Romagnola, which bustle with clubs and places where you can spend the night. The second thing is the assumption Italians don't want to talk about politics: Italians LOVE to talk about politics, they do it all the time and, especially if you come from abroad, Italians will be happy to entertain political conversations with foreigners.

Peter LaChapelle Not everything in this video is absolutely correct. I've been living in Italy for 18 years. The country was only united in 1868. Before that the pensilular was composed of 20 different city-states, which were actually tiny little separate countries. They had their own languages and ways of doing things. And even in places where things are said to be done in a certain way, there will always be places that don't do it the way you were told. That's just the way people are.

Old cities don’t do good on the subject. I’ve been there twice with small kids, it was hard to get around with a stroller. It may give you a hint of it. I guess with many ours of planing you may get around to some places. It is not the case the city do not want to do a good job. The case is that more than 2000 years of history limits infrastructure changing. Not to discourage you, but be aware you won’t be able to visit many places if you use wheelchair or you walking is limited. I guess you may do this amazing trip with a wonderful planning. Excellent video. Regarding your tip about driving in the city: I suggest renting a car from the airport rental branch. We did that in Florence, when we wanted to do a couple day trips into Tuscany, so instead fo trying to navigate the windy streets, we just took a cab to the Thrifty/Hertz branch at the Florence airport. The airport is right next to the highway, so once we had the car we were able to pop right on the highway. it saves a lot of time and stress.

My tip is to not order an espresso every time you need to use a toilet, you'll end up having a cardiac arrest!! Order "un espresso decaffinato" or alternate with something like water or a soft drink!! Some towns and cities are beginning to install automated toilet cubicles but the "full bladder problem" remains a major difficulty, for the residents too.

Some times ago we had in Italy specifical closing days depending on the store activity and more or less this thing is applicated even now.For example in Rome some restaurants are closed on Thursday because in the 70s and 80s they used to do it or hairdressers are closed on Monday

You can order Cappuccino at anytime and any where in Italy. There are many cities night never exists like Rimini, Cesenatico, Riccione, Catholica, Pesaro, Ravenna, Cervia, Sambenedetto, Pescara and many others especially in summer. Even in many towns and cities along Mediterranean sea. These areas bubble and boil 24/7 from May to September.

Extra tip I found out the hard way. Don’t assume because you’ve paid for a train ticket that your good. Some tickets u need to get stamped and validated on the platform before getting on the train. Got fined 100 Euros on top of ticket price not realising that.

Grazie. Some very good tips. Found out the hard way about the restricted zones when the 190 Euro fine came in the mail months later. In Pisa we didn't see the sign, likely wouldn't have known what it meant anyway, it was a shorter way to where we wanted to go. Cash, always keep some change for those pay toilets (WC). Our experience with filthy toilets was an eye opener. The pay toilets were well kept and worth the cost. I love Italy, going back this spring for 6 weeks. Trying to learn more Italian before I go, we expect tourists to speak English or at least try when they are here, so we don't need to be arrogant and expect Italians to accommodate us when there. Besides it is a good way to expand our minds and ward off alzheimers to learn another language. Go and enjoy the culture, art, architecture and the amazing food.
