I always thought the Oval Office was right in the middle of the white house, on the 2nd floor... This video was really helpful. Completely changes my perspective on what I am looking at in a movie when they show something happening in that office as opposed to showing the WH center section.

Most Americans probably also think that the blue room is the oval office. Movies usually portray it that way anyway and a trip to Washington D.C. to see the real thing can get pretty costly depending on where you live.

I think someone breached the WH before because the front door was unlocked, lol. Terrorists are always looking at how to breach security, a Trojan horse would be most likely. Honestly always figured it was one of the rounded protrusions on the south side of the residence. But the wider view shows the oval shape pretty clearly and it stands out compared to the rest of the west wing. As for it being sad, if 2020 has made anything clear it's that having your office in your living space is not for everyone!

Oval Office use to be the Roosevelt room until later Roosevelt, Franklin had the Oval Office built that is still used today.

The White House gives tours, and all this information is, and has for many years been, available from may sources. @I_Said_ OU812 Ummm, no. For over a century would be more accurate. William Howard Taft installed the Oval Office in the West Wing in 1909. We've only had a President since 1789 so that comes to 120 years not "For centuries".

Never knew the Oval Office wasn't part of the main residence.

For those who dont know the yellow oval office is the original oval office first established by GW the new oval office was designed to copy the original but on a slightly bigger radius to fit more officials in the room for easier delegating. The oval office we typically see on tv or movies isn’t typically the modern one we see it’s usually the yellow oval office to contain the story within the main buildings lore like everything that has always been thought about the white house. Hence so many people below 👇 being disappointed about the Oval Office now being in the west wing

Speaking as someone who actually worked in the White House for eight years I can say this animation is a fantastic representation. I have some additional information about the rooms if Jared is interested. My office was in the far NE corner of the East Wing, with a fabulous view of the N. Lawn. I will always love the House and my time there.

I watched this because I want to make a game like hello neighbor but instead your neighbor is the president. And I want the game to be very accurate to the lore of the White House. So overall this was a great video and very helpful. Now time to not make the game until years later when I randomly get the motivation to make it :)

Great video. As a student of the White House, here is an idea for you. This would be an immense project but would be awesome when concluded. Why don't you do a similar video but showing how the WH has changed since it was first constructed in 1800? No similar project has ever been attempted. It would necessarily include a lot of conjecture, as historical records haven't been kept. Every President since John Adams has left his mark on the WH in the forms of reconstruction, redecoration, etc. I recommend using "The President's House: A History" as the blueprint. It is the most comprehensive history in print.
