It’s no doubt that the cheapest military surplus rifle available right now is the Carcano. These World War I and World War II work horses of the Italian military have just been in abundant supply recently. They are priced pretty cheap because there is not a lot of enthusiasm for them. In an Instagram poll I did on about a year or so ago, 58% of followers said they don’t have a Carano in their collection.
Royal Tiger Imports or RTI is one of the companies who specializes in receiving them from overseas and getting them into the military surplus market here. PW arms is another importer. A lot of people say that the Carano is trash, but I’ve come to see that these ones recently straight from Italy are actually in pretty good shape compared to previous imports such as the Ethiopian surplus or surplus from right after World War II.
