Its hard to believe, I have been alive, for 1/2 that time. Someone born in 1850 lived pretty much the same as someone 500 years prior. Its not just time that is flying, it is the advancement in technology. I think we have been in the singularity since 1875.

The title suggests a description of daily life in 1920s America, with anecdotes and first-hand accounts. The video is more of a summary of the main political and economic events of that decade.

I'm not going to waste my time on the video, but came here looking for comments such as this. The average UKpostsr is too young to do videos on what life was like in the 80s and 90s...the idea that someone could do a video on the day to day life of people in the 1920s is a bad joke. Not impossible, but most YT channels are in a hurry to make as many videos as possible, so it's extremely unlikely that any of this type of video is going to be more than lightly-researched fluff at best, and much more likely highly inaccurate.

Looking at history and charting a people's success and failure as a nation normally coincidences with the leadership. It's hard to get alot of good leaders in a row or good leaders don't normally reign as long as you'd think. EU3 AND 4, how many duds did you get before Charles the VIII the kickass? Among other things, the 1920s was a time when women first got obsessed with slender figures. (When you think of a flapper, you think of a thin girl.) The new fashion business had a lot to do with it, but so did Hollywood.

$260 for a car was pretty cheap for the time. That is around $4000 in todays dollars, but the average new car is around $30,000. It was much easier to afford a car then. The start of prohibition probably felt great for the organizations who worked for years to pass it. Its failure and eventual repeal must have been very deflating.
@WitchKing-Of-Angmar7 місяців тому
I know, just what you wanted, more essay from me, but all I'll say, is the top price cars were the Dorris, Daniels, and Peerless. Dorris $8,000 from factory, Daniels $10,000 from factory, and Peerless, 26,000 at their highest factory car (mind you, factory is not tampered with/coachbuilt, meaning it came from the factory made by unskilled workers--as in not artisans, and that was the final price). Some fella put Alligator skin as a California top (attachable hard top--or soft top in this case) over there Chalmers sport sedan. Oh and don't forget, these cars had 130-140 wheelbases (from wheel to wheel in inches), and a height averaging of a 6'5 roof. Massive and I mean MASSIVE vehicles. I think I have just the example too.
@greenman85 місяців тому
Maybe, but back then it was made under very simple goal-sets. No emissions, no safety features, and you were lucky to buy one without a hand crank to start. You were basically buying a fast lawnmower.

There was a really popular movie and movement in the south during this time, Ku Klux something, they came out with a very popular film and there membership was at an all time high. If I was a guessing man, I'd guess African American people had a horrible experience especially in the south.

Extreme leverage in the stock market brought about the Great Depression. It almost happened for the same reason in 2008. The U.S. Gov't is proceeding down the same path. And it won't end well if we the people don't stop voting for representatives that are giving the wealthiest tax breaks. The TAX CODE is our biggest obstacle to relieving Nat'l debt.
