I’m Livye’s 1st cousin, Darci’s niece…. This has alot of information on it that we didn’t even get told during trial, so thank you for this video & sharing her story! Also, to the ppl in the comments, we wasn’t notified that Livye was killed till 6:45, i live in Louisiana and was the first to know in our family…. Also Livye was not moved from the side of the road till after 12 o’clock that evening!!! It doesn’t matter what anyone thinks of Darci, how she is acting, her past or nothing, that was her child… we had no answers and CLEARLY no one wanted to give them to none of us!!! Matthew was treated better than she was!!! These small town police have no training in cases like this! They let a murder walk out of court on trail and not found till a year later which was only a mile from the crime scene!!! Not once was his mother even interviewed. Let’s not forget how they failed to indicted until after 90 days getting a 50k bond for murder!!! His bond got damaging a car and chocking someone was higher than actually killing someone… Let’s not lose our focus on how her mother acted, this was a 19 year old with her whole life ahead of her!! She was a freshman at sfa going to school to become a nurse! She loved helping people and didn’t deserve none of this at all!!

The sad thing is, when they know someone is a murderer they have to be very careful because anything could cause the case to be thrown out or charges dropped due to certain actions police may take. As former EMS dealing with people who are rightfully upset/terrified/grieving: get one person to pull her to the side and build some rapport, move her out of the way of the crime scene, tell her honestly what's going on and be her friend. THEN give her a marginally useful but time-consuming task to 'help us out'. (make a list of all her friend's full names and phone numbers, write a full medical history, etc) It gives her a sense that she is doing something for her daughter, keeps her from disrupting the scene, and lets her have time to process very shocking news. You'll be down one person for a few minutes, but she'll remember that you were kind to her, trust me.

The ones at the scene and the 2 talking to him at the hospital obviously handle things differently. You can't lump them all in together and paint them all with the same brush strokes, so to speak. I also understand needing to keep even her mama away from the scene and little info told to her as possible. I say this being a mother myself, I would be out for blood and probably so distraught and angry that I could possibly let go of investigation details when it's best in the first 48 hours to give as little as possible so the actual suspect doesn't have time to collect themselves. Usually important details are hidden so that only the suspect would know details and that's how they get them. God knows I wish they would have been a little more sympathetic in how they told her mama that she was deceased 😢

Main problem with polygraph tests is, when asked a question that would make you nervous like did you do it, or are you covering for the person that did it is that ANY normal person would get incredibly nervous at that moment. It's natural to know your answer to that question is being monitored, and scrutinized. So these tests should never be admissable in court.

I feel so bad for Darci. I understand that the investigators wanted to wait until their job was done to tell her everything, but clearly after she found out the news that tactic was useless? Keeping her in the dark and just letting her scream at them to no response made the situation worse than just informing her straight up. No one tried to comfort her or anything. You can't ignore a grieving mother desperate for information and expect her to be quiet. All they had to do was immediately say, "yes your daughter is deceased. We are sorry for your loss, but in order to find out more we need to finish our investigation of the crime scene. Please let us do this and we will inform you of what we know after." This murder could have been prevented and Livye would have still been alive today if literally ANYBODY had spoken up and reported him to police long before this transpired. @@hunter.5625 This is an ignorant statement. My 15yo daughter was sexually assaulted by a boy at school, standing directly under a video camera. She did manage to kick him in the groin and get away. She went to class and an hour later she was back at that spot when he approached her again and without warning punched her in the throat. Also caught on video. She had never even dated this boy and he had also been assaulting no less than 4 of her friends for months. I filed a police report, the school is denying any of the other girls reported abuse even though my daughter was with them when they did it, and we just received a letter saying the county attorney has decided not to pursue charges for either the sexual assault not the punch to the throat. We did thankfully get a restraining order, but it cost us $3,000 because his mom filed a frivolous restraining order against my daughter for protecting herself. She went through 9 months of drama and she had to repeat what happened to her over and over, watch the video of it happening to her, and as a result has started cutting and gained an eating disorder. All for this kid to get off basically Scot free. My only condolence is that if someone looks him up, the explanation of what he did will be found in the application for the restraining order and maybe, maybe it will help the next girl-because there will be others. He lied and tried to justify his behavior the best he could considering it was close up and both incidents were recorded. I am glad there will be a record, but my daughter was very upset that she had to go to court and talk about the incidents. She would not have filed had it been her choice, so don’t ever wonder why women don’t report it. Be glad you have no concept of how it feels to have to go through this process. Focus on why men abuse and murder these women and can’t accept when someone breaks up with them because of it.

@@dddddd211 I'm really sorry you didnt have the greatest childhood, or the best guidance growing up. In my opinion it's a parent's responsibility to teach their children at a young age to have self respect, respect for others, be held accountable & also receive positive reinforcements, all while raising them to be well adjusted adults in a healthy environment. Unfortunately parents aren't perfect, but some are just downright abusive on many levels. And sadly they do not see how their words & actions can have lifelong negative effects on their children, nor do they accept responsibility in their contributing parts to any of it. I was raised overly strict and was taught some valuable life lessons along the way, but it wasn't peaches & cream either with belt beatings for punishments in the mix. Although I will say, your experience was probably horrible compared to mine. I really hope you can find some healing & inner peace from all of the horrible things you've been through in the past. It's not an easy thing to work through & get to a better place immediately, but I have faith you'll get there. The first step in my humble opinion is to work on letting go of the past & know deep down that you can do this. You really need to believe in yourself & acknowledge that you are worthy of happiness now, and you will be the person who makes that happen moving forward. Don't allow others to bring you down & let the toxic people & memories be dust beneath your shoes. Be strong, you got this!

Look there is a time and place for things, and the cops have their jobs to do. Their job is to investigate and seek proper justice, counseling is not their top priority. They need to first and foremost set things straight before they deal with it, and that's what they were doing. They've also probably experienced many things already, and that might contribute to their indifference - desensitization. That parent has the right to grieve, but just not there, when she's making things difficult for everyone when she doesnt have to. They still need to find out how she died, after all, and she'd probably not like it if they couldn't find out and catch who did it. With her making an emotional mess of things, they cant focus, and that runs the risk of missing certain aspects of the scene even after the situation.

Actually it IS their job and they take great care to give loved ones the news with appropriate sensitivity.

I'm with Darci 100%. When my son was shot, and the only info I had was a paramedic telling me that he had been shot in the head, getting to the hospital, and then having to wait for someone to give me any kind of info. I ended up watching the cop and seeing what room he went in and following him in there.. I was going to see my child one way or another. Thank God it was only a graze(trust me, I appreciate those 2cm so much!!) I understand that they had a job to do, but until you're a parent in that moment, you have no idea just what you'll do to get to your child. It's an ache and urge that you can't fight.. as a Mother, I applaud her, I'd have done the same.

My heart goes out to you and all the mom's who had to go thru this loss of losing their baby(ies) Believe me it's hard and also feel helpless when we got the news my brother was murdered and hearing my mom upon given the news. Also to the dad's but for a mom it's deeper cuz they carried us for 9 months. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

So you would possibly contaminate and obstruct the officers while they’re trying to investigate the crime scene? Makes 0 sense to do that and not allow them to do their job! I have no sympathy for those that try to obstruct a CLEAR crime scene!

@@jocolli I wouldn't touch anything, I'm not stupid..but I'm going to find out what's going on. It's one thing to secure a scene.. it's a whole nother level, letting that woman just spin. That's cruel.. it's not like they didn't know that she was deceased.

Too bad men are mentally damaged until they can’t feel anything anymore so they have no idea right from wrong… & they hate women in this region. That’s why they treated Darcie that way.

I can't tell if you're actually serious @@jocolli. That woman just lost her child in one of the most horrific ways imaginable, and you're telling me that you would not be there with your child, possibly for the last time. I have no sympathy for those who have no compassion for others like yourself.

I feel horrible for the poor woman who lost her baby. I can't reply to Sydney's comment, but I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Sending condolences and prayers your way.

I don’t care what this mother has done in her past, whether she is high or loud or whatever. There’s no excuse and no reason that any mother or family member should be treated like this. The condescending and disrespectful attitude of these officers is unacceptable. Coming from someone who fully supports LEO and always will. Shame on all of them.

yea its sad, but i mean I get it... she looks like shes been on drugs her whole life... And everyone will always judge you by your looks. that is just how most people are. I mean if a crack head started yelling at me I would be stand off-ish as well. tbh... I know this look from my personal friends and their aunts and/or mothers. who have done pills or crack or w/e their whole life. So I know first hand what a druggie looks like.

@@1694cgrnt it literally isn't, to get to know a suspects true emotional behavior, they say things like this anyway, to everyone😂. And even still, the women is causing more of a scene, not because she's emotional, but because she wants to know what happened. That's why they didn't say it to her, and had her move to a different location.

Well it was also two different people. The man who said sorry for your loss to the suspect was not the man handling the mother. I’m sure he would have shown more compassion than those who were handling the mother if that’s his character to do so.

@@patrickwalters2605 she is incredibly emotional. Yes, building rapport with suspects is important but they 100% should've said that to the mom. There are hundreds of ways to calm someone down and they used none of them. They antagonized her and treated her poorly as someone who had just lost her daughter. Everyone's reactions to emotions is different. They should've explained the news and asked her to "help" them with medical history, friends and other contacts her daughter had to help her process the news while feeling helpful to get to the bottom of what happened. They handled this horribly.

I've lost a child and I was surprised Darcie held it together so well. Unless you've been through it, you have no idea. When she laid back on the street, for just a moment, she started to let herself feel it. Then she got right back to trying to figure out what has just happened to her life.

I was a howling banshee when I got the news of my 18 year old sister had been killed. One the other students carried me out off the classroom after I collapsed. My teacher and close friend stayed with me in the parking lot while my cousin went and got her car.

I can't believe Darcy didn't get a TRO against Matthew's mother. Those text support a restraining order.
