CM Punk's run was occasionally overshadowed by others, but at the end of the day, I feel he was WWE's best performer in 2012. His character, promo and matches were superb, especially his character who was essentially the original Roman Reigns asking for respect. What did you think of CM Punk's title reign?

The fact they had Rock change the title after Punk lobbied to have that honor Having Punk lose the title would’ve been better if he firstly beats Rock, reveal the redesign then in the rematch have Rock win Makes Punk look strong, he gets a win over both Cena and Rock Twice in a lifetime wouldve been better if it was made a triple threat with Punk We miss out on Taker Punk but it gives him his WM match so he stays happy

Can u imagine. Cm punk vs undertaker WrestleMania 29. Longest title reign in the modern era vs the streak. People would actually be conflicted on who will win since taker is getting up there in age (taker as champ won't be ideal given his age) and punk is white hot after (in this reality) defeating the rock twice on ppv. All signs point to punk winning but people won't believe that the streak will end until they see it. Perfect opportunity to beat the streak imo also considering punk was one of the few opponents smart enough to use the urn vs taker and it's understandable from a lure perspective why taker will lose since not only was the urn used against him but he just recently lost Paul therefore making him as vulnerable as ever. So we have an opportunity to end the streak that makes sense from a lure and logical perspective at the time. Instead we got Brock making taker look like a old pathetic man and Cena vs rock 2 which they could have easily have still done anyways without the title. In this reality u keep punk happy giving him the main event he always wanted and deserved and also extending his title reign (he should lose the title to DB with the emergence of the yes movement either in SummerSlam that year or in WrestleMania 30 (I would say WrestleMania 30)). Taker keeps his integrity even in a lost and you can easily build him up again by having him face someone like Cena or Orton in the next mania then have him feud with punk later down the line once punk loses the belt.

I still love his reign but looking back at it, he really was overshadowed a lot especially by Cena and sometimes it was WWEs fault and sometimes it wasn't. Like John Cena vs The Rock is bigger than Punk vs Jericho, also Cena vs Lesnar in his return match is also bigger than Punk vs Jericho. I believe even if he lost he deserved that triple threat with Rock and Cena at WM 29, and it would have made sense since really WWE has focused so much on them since 2011, but at the same time if we had gotten that then we would have never gotten the great match with Undertaker. I don't agree with everything Punk said, i think at times he was wrong but for someone who held your main championship for 434 days, i think he should have been booked a little better.

Huge CM Punk Fan and he's tile reign wasn't taken seriously by the company they just wanted him to hold it for the Rock and Cena two match and I understand that the Rock and John Cena are bigger stars but CM Punk had all of it to be a top guy but theu didn't believe in him and that sucka still to this day. At the end of the day I love his reign it was enjoyable compare to all the trash champions they have now he was a really good champion.

Never say never. If Punk got that triple threat one could argue he would still be there today. Mightve wrestled Taker down the road as Taker clearly had many more years in him. Idk if you can blame WWE for the booking. They had amazing main event build ups at the time. The best vs the best. A pro wrestling fans dream at the time. They had Cena and Rock bringing old fans back in a perfect way and creating more new casual fans. You can't blame the booking for having such a bloated main event at the time.

All I will say is that this truly was a factor of my High School Years in the Early 10's, always remember 2011-12 fondly with this reign being apart of it. Even went to WM 28 and being worried he'd lose, was worried all the way up til Summerslam he'd lose and didn't know or believe he'd beat Cena's record which he not only did but by another 50+ Days. Reign wasn't the business move he'd of liked but he really should be grateful for having and carrying the company's main prize for over a year, something so many others have never done before.

My first year as a wrestling fan and this title run was the reason I look back fondly at that time. Moments like Cena vs Brock at Extreme Rules, Punk vs Jericho in the Street Fight, Punk vs Bryan at Over the Limit and Money in the Bank, Raw 1000, the build to Punk vs Ryback Hell in a Cell, The debut of the Shield. 2012 will always be my nostalgic year as a wrestling fan.

Survivor Series 12… CM Punk is gonna be defending the WWE Championship against the company hero, John Cena, and that Goldberg clone, Ryback. CM Punk’s chances of leaving the PPV as WWE Champion are pretty down since CM Punk might end up losing the WWE title without having to get pinned. Well, looks like Messrs. CM PUNK 434 days as champion was best of the decade.....It really sucks that he didnt got main event at WRESTLEMANIA 2013 as champion instead he buried from ROCK at ROYAL RUMBLE 2013 and later leaves next years ROYAL RUMBLE. But instead of that in present he is having great AEW run and in rivalry with MJF......Hope he would be AEW world champion next year also cant wait for CM PUNK VS MJF at AEW REVOLUTION

The only dissapointing thing about his reign was his calibre of opponents . That kinda made his reign not to be as eventful and legendary as it should have been . Atleast at the beginning of his reign ,he had a good opponent like Chris Jericho . Yes ,he had super matches with Daniel Bryan but Bryan wasnt in the same league as Jericho,Cena and Triple H . Ryback should not have been put in a programme with Punk because that feud was going to be a lose -lose for everyone involved. I think Triple H should have done the right thing and got in a programme with Punk for the title for atleast 2 PPVs beggining at Summerslam with Punk going over clean. I also think he should have gone clean over Cena at Survivor Series 2012 and carried on beating him at TLC as well. Atleast if he had faced these guys , his reign would have felt like a bigger deal since he would have been in the main event .

That was all vince if you seen the interview punk did a year or 2 ago. Tbh i think HHH and Punk hated eachother but there was massive communication era so it seemed like it did. Hearing both sides really shows this.

Best title reign of the modern era without question. Tbh even tho he didn't main event he felt like a huge deal but he should've main evented way more. As a heel with Heyman it kinda fixed that issue. I think a big problem was the lack of big heels at the time.

His reign was an interesting one because everyone he faced was either on a big push or coming off of one so they all came off as contenders that could win at the time ziggler, del rio,jericho, big show,cena,ryback,kane,Bryan , Henry and he did one heel turn but he should've lost the title to undertaker streak vs title reign.

CM PUNK isreally BEST IN THE WORLD for me he had great in ring work, can cut great promos, can entertain us also having great matches in his entire carrer. His present AEW run is also good as in best rivalry with MJF in current pro wrestling but in 2011-2012 he was the MAN of those years. Jericho and Punk was good. Pity the crowd at Wrestlemania was dead during the match. I think the crowd got burnt out by Taker vs Triple H .

I agree with the points punk made and I am a big fan of cm punk although given recent events in AEW I’m not as sure of punks character. With all that being said I wouldn’t have wanted to miss the return of the rock and the rivalry between him and cena so I somewhat agree with the booking between them. No matter who had been wwe champion at the time the cena/rock rivalry would’ve overshadowed them 100%!! As a wrestling fan I feel like that storyline was bigger than any one person including the rock and cena themselves, I’m rambling but the point is it was a situation that wwe could not have passed on no matter who agreed or didn’t agree with it.

When I was a kid I was happy the rock won the title but now I see that cm punk should have held the championship to wm 29 then made it a triple threat
