It's scarier to see someone sitting on a rock that is not immune to erosion.

I lived in and around Hamilton for more than a decade. The area around Dundas Peak can be crazy busy sometimes so catching another hiker in one of your pictures isn't anything strange. For a mountain climber, there is no such thing as an inaccessible mountain face. There happens to be a trail up through the area where the "spooky ghost" was photographed.

Scary: being that close to falling off is the scariest thing here.

He failed to mention during his "super cool hanging leg hanging over the edge" look, that the later discovered figure in the background now made sense. As he also recalls a voice just off in the distance shouting, "Jump! Jump! Just do it! Jump!"

It was a modern day Grim Reaper waiting for them to slip off the cliff after being so stupid to put themselves at such a risk!

The souvenir snap looks extremely dangerous to me!!! Sitting on rocks that could chip off at any instant is extremely stupid!

That’s strange because I was in Canada at this same spot looking out from a cliffed ridge that a few of us know how to access in my favorite grey white sweat shirt and I too saw an errie figure all in blue looking at me, he was sitting on this projected rock formation like he was there the whole time, just waiting for me! Still freaks me out I mean he may still be there all in blue with that poor slouching sinister posture (we were always taught to stand up straight and tall) just waiting until I return or maybe he followed me home! he was with someone I think they got my picture so it’s just a matter of time until they track me down there can’t be that many tall thin white guys with grey white sweaters and excellent posture in Canada! I’m doomed!

They are nuts for sitting dangling off the edge! It only takes one person to be the last person able to pose there. I'm terrified of heights!

Oh my gosh, people do hike down from the top of the escarpment to Dundas. I know because I live in Hamilton and I did a hike in that area as part of a class outting when I was a student at Mohawk College in the mid-1980s - so there is nothing mysterious. What scares me is the people in the foreground sitting on the limestone edge. Underneath that limestone layer is shale, which erodes very easily and is the source of injuries to hikers - a student in another class shattered his heel hiking in that area.

I live just minutes from here. It’s weird when you Don’t see other people hiking in the middle of the day.

A friend of mine worked as a volunteer fireman in the area. He said there are 5 to 11 suicides a year in the Dundas peak area, a fact they do not make light of. I guess pulling bodies out of the gorge opens your eyes to the world around you. It could possibly the ghost of one of those people. Just a thought.

It's not a person, Jeez. The two dark legs are trunks side by side, the white mid section is the same color of rock as the larger white rock section to the left, and lastly the dark head is a hole or depression in rocks similar to the ones just outside the red circle upper right.

It looks like a person hanging by the neck. It could be people pulling a prank, suspending a human type figure/doll to look like a hanging.

Why is the figure assumed to be "sinister"? Also, the image is clearly explainable. Its shape is definitely NOT human (too stretched vertically). The "torso" is white ice from groundwater that seeps from the rocks, as also shown further to the left. The "head" is a large vug in the rock from which the groundwater is seeping. The "legs" are likely trunks of two small trees, that are leafless on a late winter's day. As for the announcer, please keep your fear-based theories to yourself. We don't think like that in Canada.

Ive seen this photo totally recreated, along with a person standing in the exact spot where the unknown figure is in original. The spot is very hard to get to but with the trail that turns right underneath the spot, a person can free climb a very steep area and make it to that very spot.

In winter, no leaves on branches, there are other vertical white rock formations in the photos. Looks like superposition of rock formation and tree branches, and our mind does the rest as it loves to connect dots into recognizable forms, especially into human forms, like seeing lovely patterns in clouds.

It’s not even a person. It’s a trick of white rock and shadows, much like the white rock to its left. Humans are wired to see human shapes much like seeing a face in the clouds or the man in the moon. The person would have to be 10 feet or more in height because the distance from the ledge.

I’ve lived in the area for 30 years, although there is a trail on that side of the cliff, it is quite a way above where that body is. That being said, it’s also a known spot for jumpers and hangings, it’s just not well publicized for obvious reasons, and judging on how vertical that body is, it’s probably a dangler.

Did it ever occur to anybody that the guy perhaps just superimposed these figures when he posted his photos?

The most creepy thing is the rock they sit on has cracks and looks like almost breaking 1:51, how stupid can you really be be risking it all for a photo like that - That is just so not worth it..

Check for bones at the bottom of the cliff. It looks like someone hung themselves. Not cool if true.

I'd contact the local constabulary and inquire about any missing persons. Show the photo and give explanations. Could have been a hiker and could have been a suicide. Who knows.

It’s not a person its a stain mark on the rocks that just happens to make your mind create the shape of a person. It’s not in the other photos so clearly because they’re not the exact same angle, but if you look closely you can see parts of the white in both photos.

There is a few white patches on the cliffs on that side, I think it is a combination of 2 bush trunks, a white patch on the cliff and a well placed dark patch on the cliff. A painter can represent a figure exceptionally well with a few brush strokes, why cant nature do so from time to time. The green man?

It’s a hiker. I often wear white long sleeve shirts to protect me from the sun and brush scratches. If you look close it’s a quartering away person, a side view of a person with their head turned looking away. Your looking at the back of their head and a almost side view of their body.

I live near there and never heard this story - but there are loads of people that hike there all the time - it could be another hiker for sure.

That image standing on that point is waiting to take over anyone whom may have died falling off the cliff point. So that he/she will enters or takeover this life. Many figure if you see are spirits of dead soul waiting at some point. Some even are Guardians/protector if anyone may have the risk of falling of that cliff.
