Hope Rob is at least managing the pain well. I know that having this kind of rapid growth mutation is incredibly painful and I give him huge kudos for staying active in sports as long as he did. I hope he’s working hard on his degree and focusing on his health, that’s what really matters.

I've always taken my nutrition seriously; l believe it's because of that I'm so large, not so much from family genes because most are only slightly above average height and weight meanwhile I'm drastically more in every metric.

The reason for his pain is that he has scoliosis, and his hips are unaligned. (Ironically I have the same problem, just in a lesser extent!) So I just wanted to clear that up and not put any misinformation out there. I still hope he’s doing good, and hope his pain is being managed; I know what kind of hell that can be. It’s sucks because when you get tall very young, people stop treating you like a kid, and you also don’t fit in kid spaces anymore.. I’m only 5’8 and was like 5’6 in 5th grade at elementary school and 5’8 by 6th grade. But I still suffered because of it, was told no tall women were beautiful (and my stupid brain didn’t remind me all super models are tall because tall women are beautiful as well). It’s a shame tho, I was always asked about high school and college since I was in elementary school. So I really feel for this guy. His childhood was changed very early on..

If i had to make an educated guess i'd guess he suffers from having YY Chromosomes. That very rare condition is linked to extreme height but also problems putting on muscles, lung and heart problems and ultimately sadly a life expectancy around 35-40 years old. My mom's only brother suffered from this and died long before i was born, so i never got to meet one of my uncles.

I hope he's doing ok. Usually people with his condition start to deteriorate the older they get. Bone issues like uneven growth of legs, spine, etc. It can be scary. I hope they are treating him.

Thats exactly what I thought. Everybody wants to take advantage of him and he thinks its a golden ticket, but his body cant take the stress of competitive sports. He needs a job with less body strain. He will definitely have a difficult life as soon as his 30s sadly. Hopefully he realizes this soon or he will make things a lot worse for himself.

Depends on why they are able to be that tall. You can tell by how some of him is proportioned that this is a genetic glitch and his body can’t keep up with his height. There are people that are complete fine being almost 7 feet tall. It just seams this guy is not one of then

Zdeno Chara is 7’2, from Russia and played 24 seasons in the NHL. I don’t think anyone did this kid a disservice and he clearly could have stopped playing once he was in the US had he wanted to. I’m wondering if he has some kind of pituitary gland issue that made his skeleton grow faster than his muscle to fat ratio could keep up with. Being 6’2 at 8 is not typical and could indicate some form of gigantism.

Unfortunately that isn't really possible at his size. Humans were never meant to be so large. Scientifically the upper limit for a functional and mobile human is about 6 foot 8. Beyond that and the issues compound too significantly.

Of course you could argue that his death did not result from his unnatural size but I would argue that his cause of death is actually not understood well so you can't exclude the possibility that it was in fact linked to his size. Past 7 foot tall, the shape of a human, the organ layout, the weight and the fact we are bipedal begin to heavily work against us. So despite there being example(s) of people who are proportional at such an insane height as 7 foot 9, it is not an indicator that such a height is an efficient average for humanity by any means.

Regardless he could have gotten hit by a car for all logical matters, that is irrelevant he lived to be a full grown man (30) and died from brain fever (diagnosed by a doctor) hence why he holds the legitimate Guinness world record. He’s probably got underlying health problems associated with his abnormal growth, that limit him. Even Yao Ming, who was 7’6” and remarkably free from many of the health issues that affect people that tall, only had a short 9 year career , limited by injuries.
