Buffon, Cech, Neuer for me. Cech was part of a side that's defensive record will never be broken ever in my opinion. To come back and still be the best in the world after his head injury shows the mentality he had. Neuer pretty much changed what managers wanted from keepers and his shot stopping throwing and distribution in general is top tier. Dont need to explain buffon. I think Alison and courthouis when their careers end will be able to make a better argument for them

Petrovic is a little way off world class but considering his price and coming from MLS he is doing a very good job. Definitely one of the best bargains of the season for £13.6M base fee plus a few small addons. Hes easily a keeper a lot of clubs would spend £40M+ on these days.

Football has improved. Old school goalkeepers are rubsh in today’s standard. Ederson plays as an extra defender in possession, offering passing options, creating numerical advantage. He helps keeping possession with his tiki taka passes, so that his team can maximise the quality and quantity of our possession, ball progression and chance creation, which would eventually turns into goals. Ederson attracts the opponent to press him so there will be an unmarked teammate elsewhere, breaking the opponent’s press. He is able to spot that teammate and deliver to him quickly under pressure. He has great vision, game reading and decision making on when to pass slow/fast, when to go long/short, dictating the tempo at the back. He has great long and short pass accuracy. He is silky and tekky with his touches, close control, dribbling and passing. If any team wanted to improve towards the very top in modern football, they will have to eventually sign a ball playing goalkeeper. In modern standard, Buffon is rubsh. Neuer is twice the player. Because Neuer is good at BOTH goalkeeping AND ball playing. Buffon is just good at goalkeeping. Onana, Raya and Bravo might not be the final answer but DeGea, Ramsdale and JoeHart must be replaced.
