I also find it surprising we never saw Geordi's deposition.

I find it really hard to believe that they could be into each other so much and yet both of them think it wasn't them, but the other person that was. That's kind of a huge shift in perspective.

Solid review of this episode. A number of us in chat were bothered by the opening live painting scene where the model was very much exposed and out in the open. I wondered why there wasn't an anteroom for separation which I've seen in my old classes. Sure, some standards of modesty may have changed over the years, but that was very exposed and the room layout was not how I imagined an art studio (and it's location as shown doesn't reflect same location on the blueprints I have.) . Great live chat and FFA! Thanks @The7thRule !

The depiction of that scene is very futuristic and forward thinking/progressive. It's for a time when full grown adults act like mature human beings and not 15 year old gutter-brained boys. What I think was needed was some kind of 30 second long warning for parents who wanted an opportunity to shield their children from the chance to learn to think, feel, and behave as mature adults do in professional settings.

It's a reuse of the conference room. It's easier to just remove the table rather than make a new set. But yeah......a little too exposed.

The thing that bugs me about this episode, and the one about 7, from Voyager, as well as the Gangsters of Triskelion one with Uhura and the one with the two Kirks and Yeoman Rand, is that rape or claims of rape/assault/threats of women always either went undealt with (or under-dealt-with) afterwards, or automatically went to the male characters "for the win" by the end of the episodes. In none of those cases, where the males either did the crimes or were accused of them, did the episodes end with the males being properly brought to justice when guilty or at least not being made the victims early on with the rest of the episodes being spent "proving" male innocence "in the face of" women accusing them. This sets a really horrible precedent that we're still seeing in our society over 30 to 50 years later. A woman is attacked or threatened, she goes against the grain and reports it, and what happens? Everyone blames her and protects her attacker's "good name" instead of believing her. She gets accused after being the real victim of a real crime. All the sudden, it's about proving her "good name." It's gotten so bad that I've been suggesting, for years, that we do away with both "innocent until proven guilty" and "guilty until proven innocent" with all accused parties being entered into court records simply as "charged." This would set up an entirely different legal structure, but at least it would be fair to all parties. Anyway, what was needed was at least one episode where a woman is telling the truth about the attack or rape or the threat or whatever, *and* she gets justice against the criminal who caused or tried to cause her harm. We women are still waiting for that. What we don't need are more episodes whose real intent are to paint all women accusers as always being liars, or else as victims but whose complaints go largely unaddressed or barely dealt with at all. That's what this and several aforementioned episodes did, and I for one am very tired of it. They paint a very skewed picture and do nothing to inform male viewers that yes, when they treat us badly, they will be held accountable. Going forward, that has got to change.

would other species have marriage? yes I think so. There are plenty of animals that have essentially just that. They mate for life. So why not another intelligent species?

An *interesting* episode this one. The conclusion we are left with is that Riker was telling the truth and Manua was lying or at least elaborating her account , which might have made sense if she had killed her husband. 🤔 I also didn't follow all the techno-babble about radiation, waves and reflections. 🤨 Quite a memorable episode though perhaps not for the best reasons.

When I saw this episode as a kid I didn't get it at all. As a result it's kind of burned into me as an adult. I actually understand it now. It makes sense more or less. I do think the extremes all being "true" is a little hard to believe. It's not bad, but it's hard to shake the negative first impression I had of it.

yup ex post facto. I think that one is better, but still not a huge fan. I was much older and right off the bat I'm like.....what are those symbols? That doesn't seem normal. I didn't get they were the key to the whole episode though.

having cameras wouldn't matter unless they are backed up on the planet. Most cameras in today's world are not backed up. Just stored locally. Maybe that's not the case in the future, but yeah I find that most likely it would all be lost.

Nude models for life drawings / figure studies, etc. are definitely still a thing!
