Over engineered? It's literally a simple mechanism driven by an electric motor and gears
@Rose-yx6jq2 місяці тому
@@saltedslug7954 go to your car right now and open up the gas cap. Do you see how easy and simple it is to open up that door? You literally just need one flick of a finger. I don't need to press a button on my keys to have it go and wait 5 seconds for it to open itself. Or press a button on the center console to do that. You can just go and open it with the nozzle if you want to. The car doesn't need to dramatically open it for you. And then there's no way to manually do it if that mechanism fails.

Those things are normally powered by the low voltage circuit in the car typically powered by a 12V battery which is completely isolated from the main high voltage battery which the car's motors use. This battery is used to power stuff when the car isn't "on" among other things. If that battery is dead, then a stuck charging port cover is the least of the owner's concerns. @johnjerrehian46422 роки тому
@@chaddowers845 I purchased my wife a TT. While no TTRS it was dependable and fun to drive. With this said, I heard of many issues with the TTRS's brakes. Vibration and wear. My guess using softer brake pads on ceramic or steel rotors wore these pads quickly. While they would work well they would wear quickly. In your case I agree they wore too quickly for two sets in 30K miles. I somewhat remember the brakes needed replacing sooner that I expected on the TT but I always buy aftermarket brakes and marry rotors and pads together, (have had real good success with EBC). My daily driver, (A6 TDI) I replaced with EBC slotted with ceramic pads and they work well but not race brakes. Obviously some dealerships are better to deal with than others. Unfortunately, Audi has to replace the parts with OEM from Audi therefore replacing your brakes with the same problem you started with. Most of the organic brake pads work well in all conditions but get dirty and wear quickly and inexpensive to buy. My recommendation is next time you need brakes buy an well known aftermarket set up for your driving attire. Think you'll be real happy with the results. :)

The audi port is a great bit of design. Sleek, modern and inventive. Only trouble is a fender bender will mess it up and cost a ton to replace. People have joked about the electric covers not opening when the battery is dead. I have had two cars with popup headlights from the late 80s from 2 different manufacturers and they both had manual backups with essentially an archimedes screw in case of electrical failure. I expect audi has a failsafe of some sort built in.

Yes you can see the two big pins only on one side. And it makes sense, because fast charging requires the big cables. Which are harder and more expensive to do on each side. The socket which you see on each side is just AC cabling, much easier and cheaper.

You do realize that more motorized, moving parts such as the automatic charging port door on the Audi just means more parts that will eventually break and need to be replaced. Then they’ll nickel-and-dime you to get it repaired and hit you with a bunch of extra bullsh*t fees while you’re at the dealership. It’s just another way for Audi to make money off of their customers.

I remember my Audi, I bought it used (never buy a used Audi), after 6 years it got expensive to maintain but mostly because the wear the previous driver put on the car. I then determined, Audi is for people with plenty of money, a closed garage. The thing with Audi compare to the competition it's the little things, like an extra flap sliding out of the visor, just compare an interior, Audi is not just plush like the rest of them but little convinient things.
