Missed metioning the spectacular hold up play he has developped this season, somehow he's beginning to be able to do everything a forward could need on the pitch. Speed does make up for most of what he lacks, but if you can make a mistake and outrun the opponent 3 times before he capitalizes on it, then by all means you are a safe bet for your teammates.

That being said though, I can't let you get away with calling Peñarol the most successful club in Uruguay without so much as mentioning Nacional.

Physically he is an absolute beast, but his decision-making needs to improve dramatically. His positioning has already improved a lot. Love his mentality. Very easy player to like, but still hard to not see him as another suspiciously expensive Vieira deal.

I still remember when he came out from Peñarol's academy, he did already have good physical qualities yet he did not stand out that much to anyone really. I also remember when his first season at Almeria was coming to an end and thinking to myself "well, their scouts obviously have their position over guys like me for a reason" lol, it was a bit shocking to see him do so well so quick, honestly. If you are patient with him and give him enough confidence he can be an absolute weapon. I'd say he's got more developing to do on his mental side rather than his footballing capabilities, that's for sure. I'm just hoping he makes it easier for us uruguayans to not missing Suarez and Cavani that much, he's definitely got the means to do so.

It's hard to transition from a generation blessed with Suarez and Cavani. But Darwin can definitely help, especially considering that the new generation has far better talent in midfield and I'd say better talent even in defense (although this one is really tight). I think in general Uruguay has a great chance to stay at the same level for the next decade or so.

Yes, it's a bit strange that. His development very much exploded once he went to Europe. When he was still at Peñarol, there was possibly more excitement over Brian Rodriguez than there was over Nuñez.

@@brucemedley635 he's been going through a goal drought lately, but he's definitely a player capable of adapting to the european game. I'd say that as a plus he has pretty good link up play and he's also used to helping the rest of the team as the first line of pressing when out of possession. You can either deploy him as an out-and-out striker or a false 9, I just hope he transitions sooner rather than later so that he doesn't stagnate any further.

Physical tools are there. He is tall and strong but still got great pace and agility. Those physical tools give him room to improve and his hard work helps improve upon his skills.

One of my biggest issues with him this season is that when he is at full speed he rarely looks up to see if his teammates are in a good position. He is Always looking down. Granted it is difficult to do this but regardless its something for him to work on, Just off the top of my head he could have won us the game against vizela (just before the ajax second leg)in the dying seconds of the game

@@ritul2345 i would say his main other weaknesses are: 1- short passing, a lot of times the ball bounces to his teamamate as opposed to rolling on the floor 2 - not passing at the correct time like i said in the previous comment 3 - his positioning improved a lot this year, i wouldnt say its perfect but only last year was it a noticeable problem 4 - his overall control of the ball isnt the best, this influences his touch but also his dribble accuracy, he cant really play in tight spaces, against park the bus teams in the portuguese league this year he couldnt do much, he needs to improve on that. He plays much better with space on counter attacks, thats why he was a beast in the cl this season
