Well, yes absolutely! Diplomatic immunity does not waiver the right of other people to defend themself or others. Further, if an attacker is a diplomat, the amount of justifiably force for self defense and defiance of others, will have other limits. For example, life threatening kidnapping with blackmail by a diplomat, would probably allow to hire mercenaries legally to deal with it. Trying to get the influential CEO coerced into assisting some espionage or sabotage may backfire severely. His company can legally pay private security services, maybe run by some veterans with plenty of combat experience. This actually gives the diplomat less protection in this case because his status as a diplomat justifies use of more force relative to the common criminal performing the same action. The police may not be able to act, but private security providers are not bound by diplomatic immunity and will not waiver their right to protect their customers. The diplomat may end up dead and immune at the same time. However this is not a problem, a diplomat doing actual diplomacy is indeed still immune. If diplomats try to use their countries army to enforce their behavior its an act of war, because they are using armed force to suspended an others countries sovereign order. In that regard I think that diplomatic immunity is sacred, it does not allow to abuse power in an uncontrollable way, but is essential for keeping or reestablishing peace!

It only works if the country that they are from supporst them. This is not always the case.

@@Choro3160 Pretty sure they only have security when on official business, otherwise they are mostly on their own. The SS spends most of it's time protecting the President, they aren't going to waste men or money watching a diplomat buying groceries or hitting up the local red light district.

Guy above is right. Your immunity isn’t binding and can be revoked given the severity of the offense.

I've watched the video I'm commenting on and what I'm saying is that it's logical they should be protected, but no-one should be protected from a mistake like the diplomat's wife in this story. Because if she definitely drove faster in a zone where pedestrians are walking, if she drove as much as the sighs allow her, she would've probably just wounded the kid. Second she hit the kid while driving in a wrong way, so there are three big mistakes. Even the diplomat himself shouldn't be allowed to walk out of that one.

There isn't a lot of dishonesty or corruption. These were just cherry picked incidents that happened over a span of decades. The overwhelming majority of diplomats cause no issues within the countries they are staying in.

@@SilverVolo she was, she went on trial via a video link from the US on Jan 18th 2022. The US will probably never extradite her to the UK but if convicted she will most likely be arrested if she ever sets foot in the UK.

The host country chooses who it gives a diplomatic status. But once they give it to you and until your term at the ambassy end or they expell you of the country they cannot take it back. Once you're in your home country however, you are no longer considered a diplomat to them. And they can choose to out warrants out.

Don't take the info so seriously. Almost all the videos have errors with their facts. They are not informational videos, they are infotainment.
