I have faced alot of adversity in my life which has hardened me. The pull of nihilism and cynicism has been strong for me. These experiences and ideas have honestly changed me and not in a good way..... i guess the abyss peered in me too deeply.... Thats why messages like what Jesus taught are so inspiring and shed light in my nihilistic thoughts. Sorry for rambling felt like sharing :)

The fact that you are actively trying to improve who you are is truly incredible and speaks volumes about who you already are. I agree with that sentiment. The thing I appreciate about Jesus is that embracing of struggle and suffering. So often it's easier to pretend it doesn't exist or to be cold toward it because we feel we can't do anything about it. What makes Jesus truly great in my estimation is to seek out those who suffer and offer support and love. I've been contemplating couple days what it is to be a good and strong man and actively pushing myself to believe in the benevolent god, i guess i have been praying every day strenght, courage and love, to be better more like Jesus. To my surprise this has changed my whole outlook on life very quickly. Im more compassionate in action and i feel more whole as a person! I feel grounded. (before i was a cruel machiavellian egoist, hedonist, nihilist which deep down made ME suffer since i didnt see value in anything except maybe base level material things money, lust, domination, drugs, food, etc..) The other night i went to bed, thought about Jesus, his teachings and prayed, It was the first time in a very long time i didnt feel empty shell of an beast. I felt warmth and love, loneliness was swept away. (You know the feeling of oxytocin, love hormone, you get, warm and fuzzy feeling when you express love and receive it, my body was surging with that and I slept like a baby :) ) Next morning i thought how obtusely arrogant "rational atheist" i have been making fun of people who believe in something greater than themselves. I think im onto something. Ill keep contemplating, meditating, praying on these things :)

Same brother in the past I really suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts badly but I really believe that is wat the father used to keep me humble and to learn to the be more sympathetic and it’s been a hard road but Yah is still helping me and yea sometimes I struggle with depressing or suicidal thoughts but aren’t as bad and less frequent because of him

Thorns in your sides and pricks in your eyes. The term "thorn in the flesh", is referring to demonic persecution being exacted upon a person through Satan inspiring other people to ceaselessly persecute you to the point that being in prison may be a better place. The thorn in the flesh, is not a relative fluid term for somebody who has a physical infirmirty or sickness or disease. God doesn't just flat out kill people, which is why Paul prayed for it to depart from him, but God told him that His strength is made perfect in weakness.

Thorns was removed on the cross Read Isaiah 53. By his stripes we were healed ...If only we could believe and apply healing to our bodies using the name Jesus Christ..

This is exactly what Paul wrote in his NT Epistles. We have patience in our suffering and we glory and praise God in it. For very shorty we will never have to opportunity to suffer for God and serve Him in our trials tribulations again. How is letting someone stay sick/disabled "so they learn to be patient through their suffering and have a greater testimony" testifying of the goodness of God?? That'd be terrible representation of God's love and goodness. Yes we can praise God in our suffering, but we praise Him because we know he has delivered us from the power of the enemy and because he has given us the power to overcome the suffering wether it be sickness, disease, disability, depression etc. God is infinitely greater and kinder to us, that we haven't even begun to scratch the surface if His goodness! I'm sorry, but this scene was absolutely wrong and isn't biblical.

This one scripture doesn't apply to all of Jesus's time on earth.

The stories of the apostles are amazing! Unfortunately, this particular interaction between Jesus and James isn’t in the Bible, and although I know it provided comfort to many who watched it, it gives an explanation for sickness/disability that really doesn’t align with God or his character. Jesus never left anyone sick or disabled, in fact many times in the New Testament it says he healed ALL who came to him. I now believe that he died for all sin and sickness, without exception. Read the Word and you’ll see it too.

My brother is not sick,even though he is wheelchair bound/developmentally disabled with cp, his life is hard but it is his life, he can speak,he can say his mind and he knows his mind, that's the most important thing, being able to know/discover yourself even if your body/mind are broken.

Dude. I've suffered with depression and anxiety for 5 years. I lost value in life. For me the human being is just a body with skin and bones, nothing else. What value is there for someone that gets shot once and dies? I bought into the idea that humans are inferior race. But good thing is that there are people praying for me. I'm pretty sure the joy of heaven will outweigh any suffering we go through in this world. That is my hope.

I'm a multiple myeloma patient since 2010. Multiple myeloma is an uncurable cancer in the blood. I have 9 vertebrea with compression fractures and bone lesions in almost all my ribs. I've gone thru a lot of chemos, bone marrow transplant, and just last November 2023, a procedure called CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor Therapy). It's similar to a bone marrow transplant but easier on the body. Many times I've asked God to heal me, specially at the beginning of my treatment back in 2011. I've come to the conclusion that God "needs" me sick because I'll help more people if I'm sick than if I'm healthy. I praise God every day for my sickness. Cancer has made me a better person.

I'm bed ridden and disabled. My suffering is great. Just know that God doesn't care. This scene helps explain this.

If He didn't care, He wouldn't have sent His only Son to die so that we could be healed and live with Him for eternity. As they say both in the Bible and this scene: YOU WILL BE HEALED! You only have to hold on a little while longer. I'm in a similar boat as you because I'm in a wheelchair and have several chronic pain conditions. I used to be so angry at God, wondering why a good God could let me suffer like I have. Now I understand that, as hard as it is to hear, suffering can serve a purpose and can, in the end, be good for us. Our suffering brings us closer to the passion and Jesus' suffering. It's in the pain that I now find Him because He suffered first. Hang in there, and I'll be praying for you!

There are plenty of ways. However, I’ve always seen my suffering from autism as a cross that I am willing to bear. Perhaps, God wants to use your suffering to further his goodness and kingdom. I’ve never asked for my autism to be removed because I know God gave it to me for a reason.

I too had severe back pain. I found out that I had kidney stone, through ultrasound scan. I have approached a homio doctor he gave me some medicine. But my pain was not going. Last day I cried to God to heal me,as it affects all my daily activities. God healed me immediately. Now my back is free,as if some big stone removed from my back. Thank you JESUS.Also I thank the doctor for the right treatment.

Yeah first it was like wow it hurt because of the rejection and it was intense. This is still a hard lesson to learn for me because we all feel inadequate. My dad wanted me to become one type of person but grew into someone else. We are human beings not widgets, I guess this is why we need God even when we do doubt. Still struggle with some old sins not sure why god does what he does sometimes. Trusting god I gusss is the only long term solution.
