Maybe you should have mentioned that Sweden has signed an agreement with the U.S. where they will be allowed to have soldiers on Swedish soil and maybe also nuclear weapons pointing at Russia. Exactly the same as what Ukraine was planning to do by joining Nato. So maybe Sweden is trying to go the Ukrainian way. Being a Swede, I am not so impressed🥵

In modern warfare they go after vulnerable utilities like power and water. You can say the biggest weakness in a country is its heavy reliance on electricity. The power grid not just provides electricity to homes but also to the military and its communication and national defence systems. There should be new power generation technologies invented in preparation for war that can be easily produced and disseminated around the country in the event the nation's power plants and infrastructure are targeted in enemy strikes.

The constant threat of conflict is also reinforced by your media. When you drop bombs and encircle countries with your military bases, there will be a push back, yet the money is just too good. So they have to make up bogus stories about other countries being aggressive / axis of evil (that one makes me laugh) / regimes, and whichever word they find in thesaurus, to justify their actions. At the end you said Finland would be first in line for an potential invasion, but the most likely attack (and the training scenario Sweden and Finland performs more than any other) is an invading force siezing the Swedish island of Gotland. Which is perhaps the most strategic place to build air force bases on in Europe (can reach both western and eastern European nations very fast from there) and the best place to dominate the Baltic sea from. In case of an invasion Sweden and Finland's militaries are bound by treaty to defend eachother, so regardless of who gets attacked both countries are fighting. That said, i do not believe Russia or any other country has any plans of invading Sweden or Finland, even outside of NATO Sweden has treaties with multiple countries for defense. Just Finland and Sweden's air forces and Sweden's naval assets (just the swe stealth submarines could sink an entire naval fleet if they can't detect them) would make an invasion very costly as well. Not worth it for Russia at all considering it would mean direct conflict with multiple western nations.

We in Sweden have dismantled our entire defense because of our neutrality and because of the previously calm world situation. Having a fully equipped army is expensive and we have chosen to spend the money elsewhere. What our commander in chief said was: "prepare to be without food and water for a week". We will deal with it the same as we did to covid, we did not lockdown because it was not nessesary. With calmness and logic, we will prepare and we will be ready for it if the time comes when it comes to war. The Swedish public is well aware that we need to prepare after these recent statements, and i think the swedish people will do what is nessesary and we will be united when the time comes. We usually do it, in crisis we come together and help each other. And i think the swedish people have high trust in the goverment to do the right thing when shit hits the fan, and that they know what to do now.

The Swedes are right to be proactive. If Putin wants to weaken NATO's position around the Baltic Sea, it would likely be less risky for him to attack Sweden (not yet a member of NATO) than to attack Finland (a NATO member state). But Sweden has a well trained and well equipped military. If Putin's forces were to attack Sweden there would be massive Russian casualties.

Another friend was conscripted into the Army in the 60’s. Trained in Lapland, camping,survival training, etc. Russia only has a narrow access to the Baltic. Russia feels threatened if surrounded by NATO countries in close proximity.

straight up lies. Sweden is not in NATO, they are still trying to join NATO. Also Sweden has not been neutral country since joining EU, just militarily non -aligned (debatable). In these times it is dangerous of being neutral as it will backfire at moment Russia invades you (Gotland) or your close neighbors. Sweden joining NATO does not make much difference for Russia as Russia always saw Sweden part of west. Sweden joining NATO will still make whole region much saver which is a big contribution to safety of Sweden. Every country should prepare for war as it is the best way deter war

By supporting Ukraine we will get Russia to collapse from the inside. The situation in Russia gets worse every day and a revolution could be just months away. The reason we joined NATO is because since the cold war we have cut down military spending. And when Ukraine happened our politicians panicked and applied for membership. I think this was a mistake because now when we can see how weak Russia really is.

A small little correction conscription vas back before the conflict in Ukraine really started. conscription was started up again in 2017 after a 7-year pause. and the military has gradually been ramping up the amount of conscripts over the years.

With Iran Israel and the United states, combined with Ukraine and russia, it is a good idea to bolster your military in preparation for potentials. This does not mean you are preparing to enter or start a war, it just means that you are prepping your society to be better geared to handle a potential war that has brought upon your borders.

Nonsense. If Russia attacks the three small Baltic countries, Sweden will be drawn into the war in any case. In that event, it's better to be in NATO rather than out of it. Sweden is doing the smart, prudent thing in joining the alliance.
