Don't they have legitimate geostrategic concerns? What about when he said "Russia isn't going to invade Ukraine"? I fail to see how this problem is the USA's fault. Russia's government is expansionist, and wants to reclaim all of their key lost territory. Ukraine was an important economic powerhouse for USSR. The oil in the Black Sea, as well as the untouched natural gas reserves on the mainland, are a threat to Russia as the oil/natural gas power in Europe. The USA got involved with Ukraine because they knew Russia wanted it, not the other way around.

The main one being Putin's whole "Ukraine doesn't exist, it's a fake country, they're all just Russians who forgot how to be Russian" spiel (I'm paraphrasing). Not really. Democracies are more stable. Stability = greater economic trade = more money. The US primarily is concerned with more markets and democracies happen to be better for international trade because they uphold rule of law and don't have disruptive wars with each other.

Moreover the rule of law is essential to capitalism because without property rights being guaranteed it can't function, democracies are the best system (that we have so far) that guarantees property rights. A single example of a non democratic country doing economically well doesn't invalidate this fact.

@@GameN3rdz It's not so much that I care about foreign countries, but rather the last two major global conflicts started in this part of the world, and both sides are incredibly stubborn. For this to have any sort of peaceful resolution, either Russia or Ukraine/NATO must cede. It's painfully obvious that those "red lines" are very, very far apart. If this does blow out into a full-on war, the US will be dragged into it, make no mistake about that.
