Eight teams is enough. The champions of each of the Power Five conferences, and three at-large teams. A&M and Cincinnati would have been there with an eight-team playoff.

Imagine thinking beating a three loss team at home by a FG is something special. Then imagine that 3 loss team lost at home to a terrible LSU team missing about twenty players. Then imagine this being your main case for being in the top 4😂😂😂😂😂😂

Notre Dame beat Clemson (without starting qb) and won. Also they beat North Carolina, however after they beat north carolina convincingly, north carolina played ranked 5# miami.. The score was 62-26 North Carolina won. Those are Notre Dames 2 Huge wins. Those 2 wins are better than any 1 loss team outside the playoffs. AS a ND fan I would like to see someone other than OSU play considering playing 6 games. ( look what happened to USC) and would like to see texas a&m, cinci or even coastal carolina. At the end of the day bama is going to blow us out. lol.

Nice to see Alabama get a bye into the finals. Given Notre Dames recent history of getting destroyed in the national playoffs, it was about time to give someone else a chance.

The Irish did their best to get there. They got into the ACC and then managed to play Clemson the first time without their QB. Now, back to reality. A big loss to Clemson and a biggest loss to Alabama.

Here's the problem with all of this-- Notre Dame is going to lose to Alabama by at least 30 points. So why not give Cincinnati a chance? Yes, they would probably also lose, but can we please stop basing the CFP on which teams provide the best television ratings? Texas A&M would likely also lose big to Alabama, but at least we'd be giving a team who has never made it a chance. Putting Notre Dame and Ohio State in is just business as usual... neither team is good enough to compete with Alabama or Clemson. Can't we just shake it up a bit?

What I mean is that it shouldn't go to a team based on TV ratings (ND) or to a team that has a good story (Cincy). It should be based on the team who has the best resume. If you think ND has a worse one than A&M or Cincy, that's fair. To say that those teams should get a shot because they never do or because ND is going to get blown out though is BS.

@@propre6033 All things considered, I think all three teams have similar resumes when you get right down to it, but none of them are going to give Bama a run for their money anyway. What's BS is that they always give the bid to the team who will garner the best ratings. In this case, the tie-breaker is simply "which of these three teams is Notre Dame?"

College football needs to add at least 4 teams to the playoffs. Should be winner of the power 5 division goes plus 3 more. As a west coaster. I am never going to watch college football knowing, unless the pac 10 has an undefeated team they aren't going. A Cinderella story is a good thing. College football has gotten boring.

This year and previous years we know that you don’t have to win a conference championship like notre dame this year and Ohio st in 2014. And used to you can lose early and it won’t hurt ya but that’s false because for Texas A&M and now you can lose late and it won’t hurt you.

Why? Because there is national bias that favors Notre Dame. The media loves the Irish. If Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence had been available for the first game, Notre Dame would not have two losses. But Brian Kelly would be lobbying using the premise that his team twice lost to a top-ranked Clemson ball club. Predictions: Alabama 49, Notre Dame 12; Clemson 37, Ohio State 18. Ohio State has yet to be challenged, but then, they have only played six games. There were few really strong teams in the Big Ten. Is Texas A&M better than Notre Dame? I don’t know. Their only loss came against Alabama. Is Cincinnati better than Notre Dame? Probably not. They did go undefeated. Oklahoma probably is better than Notre Dame. They probably are the best of the two-loss teams.

OVERRATED ND made the College Football Playoff because for YEARS they have been one of the many MEDIA DARLINGS of College Football. That soft program for years has been pushed and EVERY TIME they get EXPOSED by tougher teams. ALA will no doubt EMBARRASS them when they play each other.
