It is a bit ridiculous though, part of boxing/combat sports is making weight. When Chimaev came in over everyone lost their minds. Alright he may have come in heavier but making weight is making weight. There should be a rematch.

thanks for sharing..I can't believe people are actually believing that Garcia was just trolling..He clearly wasn't and the only significant advantage he could have to win was to come in over..If Garcia actually would've made weight, it would have been a different fight..Haney does need to go back to the drawing board and would benefit from another trainer at this point

Clearly he's not returning to 140, so unless there's a catch weight agreement with Tank, then I'd like to see Connor Benn be his entry into welter weight. Garcia and Benn are both fiery and have their controversies outside of the ring, so it's almost like a misfits fight that's actually sanctioned.

Ryan’s the best thing that’s happened to boxing in years, but I’m fairness to Tank if you agree to fight him at a weight class you shouldn’t be able to blow up 2 weight classes heavier next day. If we criticised Devin for being a weight bully before we can’t act like Tank is wrong for wanting to fight at the weight class in question. In reality he’s one of the few that’s fighting at his natural weight not trying to get an advantage. We can’t say Devin agreed to the weight the outcome’s legit when Ryan did the exact day with Tank and lost.

1 thing i would say after the beating , if they do rematch devin wins. I think we are still living off the fight high but in a rematch devin is capable of boxing extremely well off his back foot which because of ego he didn’t do against ryan. Boring devin beats ryan everyday of the week but in that fight he wanted to show the world he was something he’s not and got punished for it. Tbh it’s very similar to Viddal v Lawal in that viddal and devin both get hurt in the first round, the difference was one ego got too big for them on fight night

The Ryan weight drained excuse isn’t that credible. The fight with Tank was he had been at 135lbs for every fight. He didn’t move up till after. I can see if Ryan was always fighting at 140lbs or 147lbs and then was asked to come down in weight but Ryan was having great performances at 135lbs until he fought tank. Why doesn’t anyone mention this ?

The mad thing is(pun intended) that I think Garcia is pretending it was all an act just to look incredibly smart and under control but I think he's mostly all the things people were concerned about him and still is. So for THAT offering Garcia to do a demolishing job on Haney says a lot about both in terms of could good Garcia could be if he settled down l, and also maybe how over-hyped Haney was/is. Thing is though, Haney got his just rewards here because it reminded me of the time Fury gave AJ some bs deadline when AJ was at his very worst. In other words, just like Fury, Haney and his team were massively wanting the Garcia fight for those exact same reasons. They thought Garcia was at his worst mentally and physically and they wanted to take full advantage of it even ignoring Garcia being over weight, but it went horribly wrong and Garcia, suspiciously wayward though he might be, was still bringing some serious firepower to that fight and Haney are those big shots in ways Mayweather wouldn't.

What I took from the fight is if that's the best in top 5 of that weight class then the level or boxing has dropped even in the pro level. Garcia lost every round outside of knockdown. Haney doesn't know how to defend against something quite simple when you are a technical fighter like myself. Yet he still hasn't figured it out which is mind blowing considering he used to be with Floyd mayweather too. I'm just waiting for the next generation to step up. The last I have seen was canelo. Outside that the lower weights haven't really. The showoffs in higher weights can do it because they are slower like tyson fury, Ben whitaker etc but the lower weights feel one dimensional still.
