Why the Suwalki Gap plays a crucial role in NATO's conflict with Russia - NATO General Breedlove

The Suwalki gap is a narrow strip of land stretching between Poland and Lithuania. If Russia and Belarus were to successfully invade and close it, the Baltic NATO-trio of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia would be cut off from its allies to the south. DW's Teri Schulz talks about this with retired U.S. Air Force General Philip Breedlove. Breedlove was NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe when Russia staged its first invasion of Ukraine in 2014 and illegally annexed Crimea. Since his retirement in 2016, Breedlove has continued to speak out about what he believes is necessary to better protect NATO territory - and to help Ukraine regain its own.

As a Finn let me first preface this with a Finnish saying: 'The Cossack takes all what is loosely held" - I use this as our president has used this in his speech. Meaning Russia does take everything if it's for the taking. If us in Europe have our things 'in order' there is no danger. The strange signals of 'weak' Germany are quite alarming from Finnish perspective. Europe has to be strong in all senses, with or without NATO. There is no time for lulling ourselves to any dream of 'eternal peace'. There will be peace for Europe only if Europe is strong. On a positive note - this particular area talked about in this video, the Baltics and the Nordics are more secure than ever (though outside Nordics Germany and the Baltics should have more readiness).

Russia needs to fall and the people trapped within that nasty place needs to be given a chance to be free. Without us interfering or any Asian country or USA. For too long has the darkness shrouded that region of the world. Germany just have to stop being afraid to do mistakes and just grow their balls back. No one is perfect so doesn't matter if one will be a bit bigger than the other, they will be perfect for keeping things calm in Europe. France can massage them from behind, Italy can tickle them from below, Poland can aim and then we know why Belarus is called whiterussia(You know they get pale white from fear).

Ukraine understands Putin and Russians - jut listen to President Zelensky. "The West" still does not, always try to explain his behavior with their own logic. It does not work. To his point on NATO forces having diverse armories, there NEEDS to be common NATO equipment. Stuff like Rifles, Tanks, IFVs, Jets, and Helicopters all based on a standard template that ALL of NATO maintains in their inventories. This would solve the logistics issue with ammunition, parts, and fuel. Doesn't mean countries can't have unique items in these categories, but their standard equipment should be universal

Russia has devolved into a barbarian nation employing the ways of fire and sword indiscriminately and without regard - it sees its own people as disposable automatons, so alien nationalities are given even less consideration. At this point, sober minds are debating whether it was ever anything but a country that, to its national roots, always fully embraced brutality as a mindset and never stopped doing so.
