At this point, walls are just to dump useless resources. They make no sense when you have troops which fly over them, jump over them, burrow under them, smash through them, troops specifically target them, spells which destroy walls, spells would enable troops to jump over them, multiple siege machines which destroy walls AND the new Barbarian King ability which destroys walls

Technically speaking, they're not that useless, they can ruin pathing and disrupt smash attacks, as well as making funnels a thing. Walls always have some use at all TH levels, which led me to believe that supercell add so many counter to it is because if there isn't much then walls would be absolutely broken. But i think they went a little too much into it and now they're closer to cosmetics to your village rather than actual defense, sad really, they look nice

Not quite true, they keep you from getting destroyed by any random ground army, and as pointed out in the video at th12+ ground armies overall become stronger than air. But I agree they definitely don't give you value equal to the amount of grinding you have to put into them.

Walls are more of a status of symbol or a symbol of a more difficult base to attack. It makes little sence but if you see level 1 walls youll be more inclined to attack even if your army is air only.

I think the wall is expensive so that player has an objective to grind becasue without expensive wall the players would just be waiting for upgrade time. And thus the price also increases drastically as the time for upgrading other buiding in later stages.

i think people forget that its not so much about the instant attack but later in the attack that walls matter. Especially when troops attacking you have to get through walls for the final buildings and defenses.

As a TH16 I can see the argument on walls being "less useful" now that we have so many ways to avoid walls..I personally see a lot of value in them. They're not only good for funneling but air attacks are a lot easier to flop imo. At the end of the day pro players are always gonna show us the best strategies to emulate so I'm not worried. Easy 3*s all day

As another townhall 16 player I agree. Ever since the introduction of super wall breakers, walls are way less used to hold back troops and more to ruin pathing. The difference between a well designed and mediocre wall layout is so much noticable as an attacker!

Well that seems like a side ways move and a bad fix for the game. Instead they need to make the gameplay more interesting so people stay for pushing and having fun. New fun game modes would be a cool addition like clash royale does. Something more casual but competitive as well. I would love if they re did troop ai and allowed u to even take control of a hero so u can create custom paths. They simply need to make the game more immersive for people to spend more time in the game. Global used to fill that gap of socializing but now they need game modes to fill that large gap

I think walls still have a few uses. 1) Redirecting troops. A lot of layouts isolate key defences from other buildings so troops (even air troops) won't initially target them. 2) Walls slow down stragglers, which can be the difference between a 2 star or a 3 star attack. 3) Walls offer you something to sink your resources into while you wait a week for your other upgrades.

Not necessarily because the reason the other troops are better is not just because they bypass walls. They also have High HP and/or High DMG output. You could remove walls and an army of archers won’t get you far. Giants would be as effective as balloons at lower THs but still fall down at higher ones. And that’s the only thing that would change except maybe for Heroes ( and the obvious obsolescence of anti-wall units and spells ).

Main thing is walls redirect ground troops a LOT, a good placement of walls can matter 10x more than good placement of buildings. Sure they might get destroyed or ignored, but some part of your raid will *always* be affected by the walls, your Barb King and Archer Queen, which are incredibly important at the higher townhall levels. And that's if you use a 100% air/other wise wall ignoring attack, usually it will be several portions of different troops.

think walls also have a psychological effect too. A base looks more intimidating if it got max walls for their th lvl. for example, if your a th10. what are the odds that you attack a base with weak walls but strong defence vs a base with max walls but weak defence. you probably go for the base with weak walls and strong defence because a base just looks weaker if it got weak walls. so i totally agree that walls are too expensive. so you basically upgrade walls for the intimidation effect only because of as you states in the video, air troops dominates the higher lvls

As a th11 going from level 10 to level 11 walls was doubled recently, from 500k to 1m gold/elixir per wall. I would've skipped walls if I wasn't already close to being done with them. Hopefully they give us some more air defense to encourage more ground attacks

Its one of those problems where your base is as strong as its weakest wall, so if you want to put two layers of wall around a defense such as a cannon (as an example, this would be terrible in practice) you need to place 44 walls, but your attacker only needs to break 2.

Walls can be made effective by giving their power to stop attacking troops. Few ideas involve explosive wall, electrocuting wall, invisible walls stopping air attacks, mystery wall containing one of the 3 unique powers, self healing walls, walls that will teleport you to the start where you were deployed, few unbreakable walls, walls that throw acid when broken and so on.

The only problem i have with walls is that they are far too expensive. Instead of doubping the cost at each level they should just add an increase of 50 000 gold fron level 7 onwards. To some extent that would fix the issues while not making them too cheap. Also reducing the wall hitpoints by 10-20% across all levels would make ground attacks far more popular across every town hall

Walls should be expensive, but not overpriced. Right now they are just overpriced where it feels like an annoying chore instead of something to get done. Nobody likes doing them and everyone waits till the last moment to get it done. Up until level 15 walls they are just useless to upgrade as every troop gets stuck on them the rest of the attack. We have so many great air attacks, the root rider, and earth quake spells that theres just no reason to upgrade walls other than to dump remaining resources in when your 5 builders are working. I think they should stay expensive but not as overpriced as they are now

They just need to make the walls upgradeable with dark elixir as that's the easiet to get (in my experience) and I'm usually overflowing with it. It would be nice to be able to dump my spare dark elixir into the walls just for an aesthetic upgrade to my base because at the end of the day the walls are mostly there for the looks at the highest level.

They could.... make the walls cheaper.. thats the main issue. To level all 250 of my walls at TH 9 to from level 9 to level 10 costs 50 million gold/elixir. Each wall costs 491,050 gold/elixir to upgrade to level 10 from level 1, which means that if you max out your walls at TH 9... youve already spent a total of 122,762,500 MILLION ON WALLS ALONE.

If you have ever attacked a base with low level walls it is a big difference. I use hybrid most of the time which means walls don’t effect my main army however the most important part of attacks higher level is not the army but the hero’s and the set up. A queen charge into under leveled walls just melts the base apart a log launcher is crazy powerful on low level walls compared to high level walls. Personally I think walls are still extremely important but expensive because that’s the trade off of having no time to upgrade. Some could see this as being expensive because they are somewhat optional I don’t max my walls before I upgrade but I do get at least 50% maxed. Thats my opinion on the state of walls.

I can say that you forgot one thing I’m a max 15 well into th16 now and I’ve been almost at 6k trophies but walls matter a lot not for necessarily directly stoping troops/heroes but to direct them to places where there is more dmg meaning that the only thing you need to worry about when it comes to walls is base building in a smart way where troops go where you want them to go, yes the argument for that walls are too expensive is valid considering the max lvl walls cost 9mil with gold pass 7.2mil and then you have two resources to buy them with not including wall rings so they aren’t useless but rather more importantly in base designing and figuring out what you want your base to defend against

I really only upgrade walls during Hammer jam and when nearly every orher building are upgraded or when I have too much money.

maybe make the higher level walls do damage if something jumps over them like it zaps them or something (some even already look like they have electricity on top of them.)

I use walls to funnel my ennemy out of my cores. The more the wall are on the outside, the less lvl up they are. I also upgrade my walls in corner between multiple areas of my defenses a lvl higher than the one around, so my ennemy dont open multiple pass at one... So basically at any town hall lvl, i have the walls in my core corners maxed, the rest of my core walls and danger zone corners walls maxed -1 lvl, danger zone walls and outside walls corner maxed -2, and my outside walls maxed -3. I see that use of walls for funeling even more useful than just have fully lvled walls, and it's way cheaper. But that's always the upgrade i do last, when basically i dont have any more use for my elexirs while i still have some gold upgrade to make before going to the next town hall lvl...

I wish the walls have a gear up like cannons,archer towers and mortars or advanced wall upgrade like having higher wall that you need jump spell instead using hog riders and head hunters(I think that's it aside from jump spell) and second one,is a wall troop that is good for defending using the walls HP as damage and every wall that is destroyed in that radius or area,it will increase the its HP and other walls,buildings and heroes. (Is it a good concept for the defense and for the walls?)

One thing why you use hog riders is because they can just jump over walls, without that ability they become pretty useless

I like the gear up idea. I think people are missing the point. Not every wall will be super high but just a select number or rows. Would be a great addition and another think to prepare for.

Walls are just kinda a thing to show off. I feel accomplished after upgrading all my walls and can show the difference between players who have maxed walls for their th vs players who don’t. It shows a players patience.

Kinda have the same opinion about how Hero upgrades work. They are absolutely essential in every single attack, so why do I gotta wait days and later on even weeks to efficiently attack again when I go for an upgrade? I can't use them while they upgrade, so might as well not even attack. I know it might not be the biggest deal ever, since grinding loot is moreso the priority in higher TH regions and you don't specifically need the Heroes for that, but it still bothers me. If we could still use the Heroes while they are upgrading just how we can still use regular troops when they are upgrading in the lab I'd have no issues at all. Or even better, although that might be too much to ask for: Make it just like the new Hero abilities! Once you have the ressources, you can instantly upgrade them. Again, that might be a bit too good tho.

The reason your last suggestion doesn’t work is because there is no limit to how much dark elixir you can farm. Equipment resources however are designed such that you can only earn a certain amount each day so kinda has the upgrade time built in in that way.

They should make it that you can use heros while they’re upgrading, but they need more time to recover and/or have 1 life before they need to recover

I see walls more of an intimidating factor of the game. The first thing you notice in a base is the walls, so that decides if you want to attack or not

not upgrading walls is like not hitting legs at the gym. Some people are fine with it but for most it adds an extra nice look and grind

they're just way too expensive at the higher town hall for how useless they are. once you get into the higher ones you can destroy walls with so many things, or just do all air

Since nearly the beginning walls have been used as a resource sink for late game players. It's the same way hero pets are for DE. I'm not saying there isn't a better way, but you do have to have something for late game players to work on.

I like how coc was a resource gathering game at first, thinking about it until troop elixir was removed I only had a serious attack once a month and would stop because profit did not beat the cost. Barch was on 24/7

As a th16 with max th15 walls I’ve always maxed walls purely for cosmetics and for the “intimidation/aesthetic factor”. I like that walls are expensive

I upgrade my walls as an intimidating tactic, if you see max walls, you'll tend to skip... even if you have an air army

i try to tell my clanmates not to max walls when maxing each th but they wont listen. Theyre useless, they just keep up with them for resource dumping and aesthetics

Walls are expensive but the grind isnt really that bad. After my lab and warden are done I just use elixer to finish them off. With the loot in legends league it doesnt take to long.

I think they did a good job making them expensive. There's always something to do then. There used to be these big lufts of time where you would just have to take a few days off.

Wall rings should be able to upgrade walls at any level with just 1 ring imo- the merchant sells 5 for like 250 gems- and as higher town halls like th12 and up to 5 wall rings is nothing considering you need more then 1 to upgrade walls past a certain level- so if wall rings were able to upgrade any level with just one ring that would be nice

No wall upgrade was as brutal as TH9, prior to elixer being able to be used. 1mil for the first upgrade and 3 mill for the second upgrade, all gold only. That grind burned me out and i took a break for 2 years, because right after i did that grind and maxed TH9 completely, they changed it to being able to use elixir.

You know I always max out my walls but the hybrid is my main strategy so I don't think much of them when I'm attacking

This is just wrong in my experience. I am not climbing right now, I'm farming to max out th14. Walls are one of the most annoying things to deal with in clash when you're high up because air spam stops working and you actually have to funnel properly. Walls are a big obstacle when it comes to creating the proper funnel. If you want your queen to target eagle, and there's two layers of walls in between, she'll likely just skirt the outside of the base instead of going in to take out the eagle. Just watch any pro and they'll almost always carry super wall breakers to set up a proper funnel. Walls are one of the more important structures on base because it's an obstacle that your troops' ai has to navigate between. It's not problematic because once you maxed almost everything in your base, and you're farming properly, it's not too bad to pay for max level walls. There's a clear line between casual clashers and more serious clashers. This video was not created to cater towards the higher ranking players.
