Please never stop making videos. This channel is the only thing that has ever gotten me into fixing and maintaining my own vehicles. So much so that I just purchased an OBS Chevy 2500 to tinker with and continue learning. On top of all of the knowledge you give me, your videos are the only thing that can help get me to sleep at night. I found this channel after my dad sent me a few of your videos while I was deployed. It didn’t take long before they were my sole source of entertainment while I was gone and continue to be a ritual at home. After the ole’ beater truck gets some love, I’d love to get my late grandpa’s 77 Trans Am running and driving again with my dad as soon as I can find the time and money to do so. After over a decade of sitting in an Alabama driveway, it deserves some love. Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment. This is by far the best car channel on the internet.

I had one of these (1987 ... D150, slant 6, 1 bbl, A-833 OD transmission, 'north of the border'. He is right, it had 'legs' - very tall gearing, came with 195/75/R15 (car tires?). It never died .. but had a few known ... 'items'. 1. Rear main seal leak, helped keep the underbody from rusting. 2. Slop in the trans linkage (external, could go under when locked and 'flip it'. 3. Carburetor icing in damp cold weather. 4. Made lots of carbon during -40C startups. 5. Pulling the vacuum lines actually helped - gave a little diesel grunt under light throttle, but much more power, and better milage (probably just bad spark advance/smog gear). It would always start .. never overheated. At -40C on the highway, mileage was awful. Starter was changed to a Nippon style - no sick dolphin noise, had enough power to pull start in 1st gear. Body 'weight reduction occured' long before motor would give. It truly was a Dodge ... both 'Do Or Die Gutless Engine' and also 'Drips or Drops Grease Everywhere'.

This really brings me back, Derek. My first truck was an 81 ram d150 with the slant 6, but mine was an automatic. My dad and I drove it cross country 2 times without any issues. Such an awsome truck. I really miss it.

Please use a cinderblock, tree trunk, rock, the tire you took off, what ever you see around and put it under the frame man. Floor jacks fail, slip off the frame, etc young brother. My dad bought one of theses new when I was 12. It was the best truck ever, even though the 225 slant 6 in it was no powerhouse. It was just a plain-jane work truck-- no power steering, am only radio, no carpet, no a/c, no power windows, 1/2 ton. We hauled a lot of wood in that thing. My sister and I rode in the middle for years-- 4 of us in the cab . . . . lol. We actually took that thing on a 3 week camping trip through the western US-- my mom and sister slept under a camper shell in the back of the truck, and my dad and I camped in a tent. It was a fun trip. Later we had an old 71 volkswagon camper van my grandparents bought brand new; my mom sewed curtains for it and we fixed the inside up and I camped in the pop-up top. We made some good memories.

Found a 77 Power Wagon(4wd), shortbed, 42k miles, 440 Magnum (freeze plugs in head, had to be special ordered) TF727 transmission. It was shed stored in the high desert of CA. The only thing that kept it from being drivable (other than the battery & fuel pump was the u joints. It had 3.5" lift kit installed (minus pinion shims). That's why it got parked because it kept needing u joints. Fastest turn around I ever did. It was the meanest, if not fastest, pickups I've ever driven. Should have kept it, but money dictated I couldn't.

I had a 74 Dodge Dart (from my grandfather) with the 225 slant 6 in it, I drove that engine to over 300k miles before I sold it. Pretty had to kill those engines, but up here in Canada they did NOT like the cold or wet weather!! And just a little tip, keep a spare ballast resistor and a regulator in the glove box-I learned that the hard way!
