You're 100% correct! Funny story - I've studied since I was 8 years old - first Karate, boxing, TKD and then Lotus Kung Fu. When I was about 24 I started bodybuilding - I looked like a pro body builder at 240, 5% body fat at best shape. Then I started training in Kung Fu again. Holy F@#$, I was SOOOO slow! And even though I was physically so much stronger (benching about 460) my punches had no snap or power! Now, 10 years later I'm down to 212 and I got that power and speed back!

THis is just what I learnt off my old Wing Chun teacher (Sifu Ian Protheroe), really usable immediately, and great techniques. If you just practiced what you saw in this 9min clip for a year, you would have enough Wing Chun to protect yourself at least!! Fights only last about 10 seconds, and once your opponent realizes you can stop his king hits,,,they will back off.

Wing chun IS effcpective in real life or death self defense, but not in combat sports, because it is for defense, not offense
@mostafasaid50128 років тому
It is for offense lol
@TheIamseth7 років тому
your right but it is bc it gets over powered by brute force and in combat sports people usually know a lot of styles. also, they use tackling techniques and wing chun is void on the ground.

Don't you see the punches he made after defense ? It is the only art that can be applied both for defense, offense in a street fight and especially when you have more than one opponent.
@larrydshuttlesworth6 років тому
I have been a practitioner since the early 70's and I respectively disagree. I call it self-offense. It requires you to continue until you have taken out your opponent. Start by defending then offense until finished.
