Thank you for the tour. I grew up in Alaska and lived in Fairbanks in the 70's. I went to Ryan Junior High and then West Valley the first year it opened, 1976, go Wolfpack. My Dad worked at the University and I used to walk up the hill after school and take swim classes at the gym there. I remember there was only one movie theater in town, the Goldstream Twin. In the late 60's early 70's, my Mom and Dad were in a sports car club that did some kind of racing events in the theater parking lot. We actually lived out the other side of town at a little crossroads of the Steese and Elliot Hwys called Fox. My little sister is buried on the hillside where the cemetery is, you used to be able to see it as you left town towards Fox from the Steese Hwy, but I think I saw on Google Earth that the Steese has been completely rerouted. I don't miss the cold. Fairbanks wasn't the coldest place I've lived, that would be Noorvik up by Kotzebue, but I remember my lip splitting every year from doing chores outside in the bitter cold dry air. But it sure was clean and beautiful. That I miss. I'm in Bakersfield CA now. Very mild winters...but the summer, hot, hot, hot. Love the videos. Thanks again 👍

Thanks for taking the time to video these trips in and around Fairbanks Keithie. I can't wait to show them to my 88 year old mother. She and my Dad were stationed in Fairbanks with the Army in 1958 thru 1959. My older sister was born there before Alaska was even a State. I keep hoping Mom will see something in your videos that she'll be able to remember, but there is little chance of that happening as she suffers from memory loss and everything looks so modern. I hate to ask a favor, but if I can find out what their address was back in 1959 and it's not to far for you to travel, would you consider videoing a drive by?

The days will be getting longer now! Merry Christmas, Keith! It's 1.95 a gallon here in Boston. Not downtown, but still in the city.

Thanks for the ride! I was thinking Fairbanks got completely dark for a while. But since not, how much further do you have to travel for the sun not to shine in the winter. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas.

Was up in Fairbanks june 29 to July 7th first time 2021. Mid night sun long days. Chena river Tanana River both have Beach areas you never know your in Alaska stay on beach late night. Walk along the Chena river , downtown kind of dead. Several restaurants around. Enjoy trip ,,next time northern lights trip.!! Freddy Meyers appears to be the best place to buy food in Fairbanks for long stay. Gas was 3.40 a gallon. Save by cooking and eating in hotel room if you can, restaurant prices higher then lower 48. It's definitely higher cost of living ,gas food. Eat in not out to save money. Shop smart , small convenient stores are a rip off .
@basha48463 роки тому
gas is about the same price here in PA

Is the ice bridge maintained by the city at any time. Or is it used at ones own risk??

1.97 USD/Gallon cheapest Sam's Club in Miami. Now is 70 F but on Friday is going to be around 45 F at night. 11.46 PM Dec.22th 2020

Couple thoughts: -I can't believe you're out walking around in just a flannel shirt in -14 degrees -why is that part of the river heated? For the power plant? -I was surprised to see some pavement on the main roads there. Looks like most roads are just packed snow/ice. -How has the coronavirus been up there? Do you have to wear masks everywhere in no indoor dining like most places in the lower 48?
@matiasgentili21783 роки тому
I ve never seen snow. Here in Florida when it gets 50s we stay inside lol

Gas in So. California is $ 3.59 a gallon... lowest octane.

I can't figure out why people live there and pay those high prices!

Seven minutes a day starting tomorrow? It doesn't quite work like that. Fairbanks starts gaining over six minutes a day in the second half of January.

This is downright scary for me I can’t bear down with longer nights. If I was raised up there is adaptive get used to it and respect the planet and its own axis tilt orbiting around the Sun.

$2.66 is cheap compared here in California not that much though
