I am sure after a year or 2 the new metal siding will weather to more closely match the original piece. Good work from the 2 of you.

You need to add a stopblock in front of endcap to prevent the door from pushing through. Especially when there is snow on the ground and have give the door an extra hard push. I would sugest a heavy-duty screw (or bolt) through the face of the drip-edge so it can easlily removed if needed.

Dano I built a wood shed a while back that has sliding doors all the way around. 10 doors to be exact. Every wall moves.
