I think your creations are very cool, clever and I totally think your a genius. That said, I would find these stairs impracticle as i would just leave them down all the time. Of course if something is stored beneath the stair that you will need access to relaively often, then they make lots of sense.

Excellent video and great design. Thanks for taking the time to present this so professionally and to share your ideas with an audience. I feel that some of your subscribers may be missing the point with some of your creations. Many are just show casing design ideas and creativity. We can choose to steal your ideas and creativity to fit our own personal needs. The design and creativity doesn't need to stop with your version of a creation. Given that initial vision, your vision, we are allowed to tweak and improve as we see fit. As for a practical use for these stairs.... I have a very small downstairs closet in one of my bedrooms. In the ceiling of that closet space is an attic access opening. I don't need to go up there very often, just every 3 months to change a furnace filter. I don't need stairs hogging up needed storage space 24x7. I also don't like carrying up a heavy step ladder every time I need to get up there. For the few times I need access, clear a space for the ladder to unfold into and use the permanent folding ladder. Great solution for my specific use. Wonderful.

The hinge screws going into side or end-grain of the plywood are weak.
@mahtoosacks3 роки тому

@jangoturner1623 роки тому
Guess it depends on how much you weigh.

if you look closely, the screws are going into both along and perpendicular to the grain. The question is where to get this kind of hinge as this is the first time I've seen such a hinge.

what type of hinges were used for this project???

@Traitorman.14.33 роки тому
Doesn’t matter. The design is flawed because the weight is on the screws. The “bumping” that takes place when people go up and down (especially down) will eventually have one or more of the steps fail.

Interesting design, well made, but I don’t understand why this loft needs a folding stair. Doesn’t look like a very trafficked corner of the room. Feels a little design for design’s sake. This is creating a problem to solve it, not problem solving. But again, nice design. Inalso don’t understand why you have to glue boards together. Can’t you buy the proper materials?
