I found this song about 4 years ago, freshly out of college, just broke up with my ex because his family was moving overseas and we couldn't stand the distance. It wasn't a violent goodbye. Much like this one. We both mutually decided that maybe it was time we went on different paths to grow as individuals. It was difficult at first, getting used to doing things by myself. But everyday was a step towards being okay with it. I still listen to this song often. And it reminds me only of good memories.

This is painful yet calming story. She broke up with the guy, she gave him back his belongings in the box, he gave her apartment key back. They had a nice little chat, and go their own way. She is now felt something is different. Nobody watched TV beside her, or eat watermelon, or anything.

This song kind of shows the "acceptance" part of the grieving process of a breakup. Where life is still difficult but that it goes on and things are ok between them even though they both know it won't work out. There's something sad and beautiful about that.

this song feels like coffee. warm, creamy, and bitter specially now that I just ended a 3 year relationship, I can totally feel and relate to the song more. Most mature breakup video ever? They don't hate eachother. They can still joke around a bit, albeit awkwardly. Makes it feel like a relationship that just kinda ended, maybe not necessarily because of any bad things. But she's still maybe sad that they broke up, like kind of a bit lost. It took me until my fourth or fifth watch to actually understand the story being told by the video, and now I feel slow lol. The box that she is playing with at the beginning with her foot is full of his stuff that she still has. And she takes the box on the train to give it back to him. He gives her some keys, presumably his keys to her place. Then it shows her doing some things trying to have fun on her own, going through the motions at that carnival place but not looking like she’s really having that good of a time. Later, watching TV alone, first she’s laughing but she ends up crying. It’s a very heartbreaking story. But she looks like she’s doing pretty good while enjoying that watermelon at the end, so maybe everything will be alright. This song and video are awesome
