I don't fucking understand this. The BBC is meant to be the height of impartial journalism and educational standard. I don't understand when the concept of "hate speech" as framed by journalists won parity with "free speech" as a societal notion- precisely since free speech is objectifiable, "hate speech" is precisely subjective, and while it's not nothing, it's hardly what I would have thought BBC journalistic standards stand for. Hence, he interrupts the interviewer a lot.

@jvjjjvvv9157

He's not dismantling anything and he's being extremely disingenuous. I almost feel sorry for people who watch this and mistake Musk's brazen disingenuousness for some sort of logical and rigorous deconstruction of what the journalist is saying. It's one deflection after another deflection after another deflection. It's almost embarrassingly unsophisticated for a guy as smart as I'm guessing that Musk is. What is the journalist supposed to say when Musk asks for specific examples of hateful content he has seen? So, on the spot, in a matter of seconds, you need to remember specific tweets with their specific words or otherwise your argument gets invalidated? I am pretty sure I read a lot of political content every day, and if you put me on the spot and asked me to provide examples I probably wouldn't be able to bring up anything specific from one or two or any number of days before, let alone in the middle of an interview. In fact, chances are I won't even remember writing this comment a couple of days from now. So what? So what, really? The whole argument is that maybe the journalist is being dishonest because he can't remember specific examples? Wasn't the discussion about a general increase in this kind of content? So who cares about any specific examples and why is the focus on whether the journalist can remember them? (that's one pretty obvious deflection for you there). I don't know, in general it just bothers me when this kind of behavior passes for intelligent or sophisticated. At the beginning of the video Musk also disputes the notion of misinformation and who is supposed to decide what is information and what is misinformation. Oh wow. If only you were an engineer, Mr. Musk, and you knew of the existence of something called facts, if only there was a measurable reality. If only you were sending rockets to space and you could do the math and know when something is going to fly and when it isn't. Because this is not a discussion about ideologies, it's not like it has ever been about referring to people's opinions as misinformation. It's about non truths being presented as truths because there is something to gain from it politically. But, again, if only you were a man of science who could tell the difference between fact and fiction, right?

What a great example of journalistic integrity with that line of questioning BBC! Glad to see they have their accusations backed up with factual examples! Oh wait.

Elon Musk brings BPC up for providing misinformation throughout the years but doesn’t provide any examples, then calls out the journalist for not listing any examples of hateful speech on Twitter? Also, didn’t Elon post misinformation about Paul Pelosi on Twitter a few months ago? Elon can’t stop being a lol cow.

Holy shit Elon just tore that guy down and basically said "I'm the interviewer now. What about BBC's misinformation on COVID?" and just shoved it all back in his face. This is how we fight this era of lacking "money first, facts later" journalism, just call them out on their BS and be unresponsive

The network forces them to do it. The journalist knows it is career suicide, but otherwise the network doesn't get views. They justify it to the journalist by saying half the country will love you for this. Take it from an ex-creative marketing executive of a local station and now CTO of a medical conglomerate... It's a cesspool... It's a form of "Access Journalism" that goes against all journalistic standards.

BBC (Broadcasting British Colonialism) has completed its metamorphosis from a cruel Colonialist Channel to a intrusive obstructionist Channel. The mouth piece of a thieving robber of a country which oppressed and killed millions over the centuries is now lecturing pretty much everyone else on human rights. The colonial white man arrogance..

@@SansSentiments- We can agree to disagree on that one. I prefer not to STFU, as you so eloquently suggested--and let me tell you why: Being an adult is also a part of life. That entails listening to brutal honesty at times--actually, quite often. I will never put someone else's feelings above my own. Especially not so some immature, sensitive person can feel "safe". That is a generational thing--and it ain't MY generation. I refuse to have in my life people who cannot handle truth or are hurt by it. I am 52 and well-traveled enough to know that people such as those, are the most manipulative, selfish and toxic. Hard pass for me. Speaking of overly sensitive people, someone reported my original comment and got it deleted. I hate being right so much.
