I use an ultrasonic cleaner >$150 with Dawn dish soap, then put my collets, bits, etc in Isopropyl Alcohol. Works great, no rust on anything, and non-toxic.

I need to up my clamping game! I foresee an order of Crush It Essential Clamps in my future. I work consistently with 3/4” material, would spacers still be recommended with double sided tape underneath?

Why not just use the depth function of your calipers on the other end? That's what it's there for.
@Anthony-H15 днів тому
Yeah, why wouldn't you use the depth gauge for that?

Why not just use a micro hite?! 🤔🤷♂️ 😒🤦♂️

I'm legit confused by the vid. lol

The method you are describing is for the "depth of a hole" measurement. The "Step Measurement," is for exactly the purpose shown. classroom-qualical.teachable.com/courses/64230/lectures/947056

@@carbide3d the straight-on angle in the video does not make it very clear that's what you're doing, it looks like you've just lined it up by eye. IMO, the depth gauge is much easier and quicker to do with one hand as well - just apply downward pressure and slide till it stops, rather than trying to hold a narrow metal edge on the stock while extending the calipers with the wheel. Maybe it's a practice thing, but why practice to get better at a harder method when the depth gauge already gives me the right answer.

Great advice on the Pure Lye Kevin, Thank you! What’s that olé saying: "Life is hard, it’s even harder when you’re stupid"! ** Not that you nor anyone else is (cause Lord knows I AM) I’m just saying people ATTEMPT, FAIL & LEARN. ATTEMPT, FAIL & LEARN. THEN FINALLY ATTEMPT, FAIL, CALL CARBIDE 3D, & LEARN! 🤨 What used to be "common sense" & "general/basic knowledge" 20, 30 40 years ago is now brain surgery to a lot. That fancy book 📖 learning will only get a person so far. Attempting + Failing + Learning = Success (take it from me I’m an excellent FAILURE) ✌️ #TeamHumanity

Nice tips, but never use lye with aluminum, it's a dangerous combination. If you have aluminum stuck to your CNC bit, wash it off before using lye.
@carbide3d14 днів тому
A small amount of lye is mixed into 2 cups of water. The endmill is then placed in that solution.
