Either way, it was enjoyable to watch no matter if you were a child, teen, or adult. Now most* kid's channels just directly target to children, same goes with UKposts with the demonitization for not being kid-friendly.

I feel like most of the internet culture we know this year is not originally from UKposts, and UKposts mostly had trouble trying to do Rewind as more creators are focusing on other platforms. But I mean, they should do a better job for Rewind because for 2018 rewind they say they’re are trying to appeal to everyone, but fail to do so.

The older rewinds had a sense of pride in them. They didn’t have anyone saying how great the community was, because they didn’t have to. Rather, the video just showed the beautiful mess that the site was. Raw, chaotic, and even when most of the site wasn’t the most creatively inspired it was still just fun.

There are jokes in this rewind, that may seem controversial today on youtube, you can't even say a swear word, your video will be instantly banned if it has 2 seconds of copyrighted music on the backround, and at that time it was ok, it was fun and everybody were happy. But today, because a lot of people are being sissy, UKposts should be "too family friendly".

There has been drama for years - the earliest I remember was around 2007 and another in 2010, and yes it was on UKposts. UKposts Drama is nothing new, and the only thing that seems to have changed is people focus on it more, yet there's been no real increase in it from what I can see (I guess it depends on what you pay attention to).

A Seagull i know. it’s so annoying. i didn’t know 90% of the youtubers in this rewind - and the only ones that i did recognize i hated. lele pons? jake and logan paul? but i won’t get ahead of myself because they tried to salvage this by having the youtubers i like be in the video for literally one frame. and the trends were lazy and not actually trends (besides fidget spinners, i guess). the “rewind” remix itself was lazy and boring for the most part as well. overall, definitely the worst rewind so far. i’m terrified for next year’s.

2013’s UKposts rewind was so much more spontaneous and it represents what UKposts is all about, not much is censored and it expresses itself to the world. Meanwhile 2018’s UKposts rewind is so advertiser friendly that it makes Nickelodeon’s ads seem like explicit content

2013's YTR was a callback to all the dumb trends that flodded YT throughout the whole year. It didn't need more, and that's why it's so great. 2018's feels fake. It tries to pander to everyone when it doesn't. And no, not just PewDiePie (although the T-Series thing deserved at least a mention), but stuff like Infinity War, VoiceOverPete, STEFFAN KARL, Flex Tape, Despacito, Logan Paul vs KSI, Grandayy & Dolan Dark, Tik Tok, Smash Bros Ultimate, "This is America"... Those are the things that, for better or worse, took YT by storm, and they deserve a spot in YTR for that. Instead, we got Will Smith, k-pop, football, and "we are so inclusive" pandering. Yes, they put Fortnite, Starman, Bongo Cat, and Yodeling Kid; but that's not even 7% what happened this year in YT (except Fortnite).
