Am I the only one thinking we are always hard on zverev even though he is the most successful among the next gen. He won 3 masters 1000, world tour finals beating the likes of Federer and Djokovic in those and made a grand slam final + several slam semis and quarters.

@@KH28m Medvedev isn't. It's Sasha and Daniil is even older then him. Sasha won 3 M1000. Beat Djokovic in his bad year but Novak destroyed Thiem a match earlier. He did beat Federer with an injury but he showed he has the game to beat Federer (even in 2017 where Fed was playing amazing) and he beat Thiem in Madrid after Thiem stopped Rafas winning streak. He beat Roger in WTF and Novak who was basically on a mission at the end of 2018. He choked in the USO Final yes but the Next Gen is full of chokers. Thiem, Medvedev, Tsitsipas are all chokers as well. They can beat Rafa Roger Novak only in QF of like tournaments. Zverev just won this ATP 500 tournament and I am still not convinced with him. At times playing too passive when he can overpower his opponents and that second serve is still a huge problem. Tsitsipas is also an exciting player and has much more consistent determination on his shots unlike Zverev, but lacks the power from both wings to go alongside that. Both have a great overall game, but lack that killer mentality when the match is tight and the pressure is high. And even though both have beaten Nadal and Novak in the past, neither is equipped with that extra boost its required to bring them down (or at least challenge them) in best of 5 matches.
@Leo-nc3yx

Tsitsipas is just inconsistent ,he played so well in Australia ,from Atp Cup to Ao ,where he overpowered Rafa and the other players . Somehow he lost his form and turned back to his old self after that ,it seems like it happens to him a lot. When he is on he can beat Roger /Rafa in Ao and challenge Djokovic to a 5 setter ,but never win a 500 title somehow. So far he had reached 3 semis of a Gs but only one big title to his name which is the 2019 WTF ,the result is kinda surprising .

@@Leo-nc3yx I'm not trying to undermine Zverev's success but this was definitely a set up match. 1rst prize is $88k and 2nd is $65k. So much more can be made from bets and it probably did in the background. I don't know if both players were in on it or if Tsitsipas wanted to create good odds after that 1-4 game. What I know is that there's no way Tsitsipas lost 5 straight sets to Zverev when he beat Nadal a few weeks ago.

Huge congrats to Alexander ZVEREV! He is my third favorite player after Federer and Del Potro. You absolutely deserved to attain such a gargantuan title in Acapulco Tennis Tourney which was conducted in Mexico, duel of two young players from the new generation, undoubtedly denoting the quality of the tennis world, inspiring the other people in order to become a professional tennis player worldwide. It was really sensational final encounter for us all. What a scintillating performance from Alexander Zverev in order to clinch 14th championship in such a notable tournament.

Great win. It always amazes me how Zverev can have such good results and be world number 7 and he can play sooo much better. He needs to improve his serve. Maybe improve a little mentally. Be a little more agressive. Have more confidence. And he will be unbeatable. The guy was literally 2 points away from winning a Slam and he was light-years from his best level. He was also Djokovic's most dangerous opponent in Australia, he was close to the 9-times champion who destroyed Medvedev in final. It's scary to think he is already so good and still can improve so much.

I feel bad for Zverev. If you look at his past 3 major/important matches, he has started off so well: led Thiem 2 sets and a break in US Open final, led Medvedev by a set in Paris final and led Djokovic by a set and multiple breaks throughout in Aus Open quarter final. And then he crumbles mentally and as a result lost those 3 matches. I still think, and such results prove, that he is the most dangerous of the younger generation BUT he just lacks the mental aspect when things get tight. That’s the only thing stopping him. Apart from a slow start today, he was in control of Tsitsipas most of the match, playing aggressive which he NEEDS too. But then again, got passive when things were tight. I’m so happy he won today as he’s had a rough 2019-2020 and a couple bruising losses ^ as of late. I just hope he maintains this mostly aggressive form and begins to build a strong mentality as I know he can be dominant; strong 1st serve, much improved forehand, world class backhand, decent volleys, athletic, fit and powerful. Best of luck Zverev 🇩🇪
@sj4632

@apathak34 3 роки тому
@@sj4632 If he's not talented he wouldn't be reaching Slam finals and Semi finals. He wouldn't have taken one set from Djokovic either, you can clearly see his game decline mid way due to some reason. Look at USO 2020 final. He was leading the match half the time and choked.
@Leo-nc3yx
@Leo-nc3yx 3 роки тому
@@sj4632 Talent alone won't win you the game ,if said so than Kyrgios will be dominating the sport right now . And mental strength is the hard factor for tennis as well , Djokovic is the king of saving match points when he should lose the match in many occasion . If he isn't talented and hard-working enough he shouldn't even be in the top 8 and beating the big three sometimes.

Positive for Zverev: he developed the mental strength to pull himself up after theses phases of in confident, very defensive playing which cause him to quickly fall behind in a match. Negative: repeatedly these phases of overly defensive playing reoccur, knowing they will cause falling behind. I wish one day he can skip these phases and play confident and agressive from beginning to the end. That will be required to win the very big titles.
