I love herring and herring salad, but seeing you try to eat it like it's a soup, with nothing else, gives me nausea too. It's called a salad but that doesn't make it the same as a green salad! You need some boiled potatoes on the side, so it's not very different from any other combination of a protein with a sauce. Tell German boyfriend to do a better job guiding you as to how to eat these meals! Pickled herring is one of the few flavors I really miss after going vegan/vegetarian :( there is no real way to imiitate it, closest is pickles but it doesn't really scratch the same itch. Similar to how nothing else will quite taste like salmon.

As an asian I don’t like spicy food and can feel the slightest spice of herb or chilli. When eating spicy, i sweat like im taking a shower but out of all my spicy desensitised friends, i can finish the spiciest food without dying. Asians are usually desensitised to mild spicy food but i am tolerant to the pain of spice.
