1440's actually, although your dating does allow for the influence of Ficino. The Sun is Eos/Aurora & her two sons Emathion & Memnon, one who built the walls of Babylon to keep darkness at bay & who died for who Eos cried the tears that are the morning dew, the card represents Dawn or a dawning. The Tarot wasn't invented to represent a particular teaching as all the images go way back before being put together as the Tarot, although I do agree artists of the Renaissence would have had a interest & knowledge of mythological symbolism & Neo-Platonism.

Hey thanks for watching and commenting. This was fun. These are the views of Christophe Poncet. Not my own. I find him interesting and fun but I do not personally agree with all of his conclusions. I still love talking to him.

Yes Grimaud wasn’t around in 1650 though. These are early decks from Paris area
@SuperTdarling7 днів тому
@@justinmichaeltarot Of course. I meant the deck in the picture is Grimaud reproduction. Please forgive my wording.

Cool fascimles & bookbinding! Have you managed to reproduce decks for larger market? I'm in the US & buying decks from France is expensive.
@p1nesap19 днів тому
Cool interview. I subscribe to both you guys. As a Marseille tarot newbie I'm enjoying your videos. Just got the Heron Conver deck and I'm already planning on tightening up the faded/blurry outlines with an ultrafine gray Sharpie. Seems in order to get the best quality facsimile I'll budget for an Yves deck (Madenie or Burdel).

Nice comparison videos. Just ordered the orange box Heron Convers today from France, as best budget Marseille facsimile I could find. Can hardly wait! Someday I'd like Burdel and Madenie facsimiles. Tres cher.
@p1nesapМісяць тому
Nice review, Claude Burdel & Pierre Madenie in a tie for me. Wish I could justify dropping $70 incl. shipping to US. Until then I've got the Convers Heron on its way from France for $33.

i found your channel way to late ffs. wouldve loved to be involved in tarot when Rachel was cranking decks out with Robert. Her books are amazing. ive listened to a walk throug the forrest of souls sevral times and maybe 3 or 4 times for 78 degrees of wisdom. such good witing. Man i wish i had the Raziel and her Burning serpent decks. 😢 rip Rachel! 😢
@justinmichaeltarot2 місяці тому
Isn’t it nice that you can listen to those books now 😅 Rachel lived a magical life and her love of the tarot was contagious. I feel lucky that she was on my little channel. And I feel even more blessed that she was a friend. No one else will compare to her in my eyes. She had an extraordinarily genuine relationship with the cards. Thanks for watching.

My only issue with some of the rider waite decks is some have a grey pillar on the high priestess card instead of White like its supposed to be. The J pillar.

Hi Justin. Thinking it would be great to have you talk about working with both the RWS system and the Marseille system. You seem to like and use both and it would be interesting to know how you do that. Most people choose just one system to work with. I find myself going through phases with Marseille or RWS. Warm wishes, Anne

I recently bought Jodorowsky's deck which is now reprinted in France. I love the color palette, those dark blues and dark yellows (orange). And judicious implementing of the color purple. I love Ben Dov's deck for the more purple colored blues and simplicity. Lo Scarabeo's T de M is lovely and pleasing as well. Those three are my current favorite mass market T de Ms. Thanks for this wonderful video, Justin.

Is there a book that comes with this tarot ?
@justinmichaeltarot3 місяці тому
No. It’s based on a historic model tho. Any TDM book should help you learn the symbolism
@ButterKing-283 місяці тому
Thats cool! the Weiser Tarot deck is the one (only one I bought (but wone one at a raffle)) I have and I didn't know that it was a revamp. I do like the changes and the new style of the shading in the landscape (more ink-like). I have not used it yet (or any deck before). You said that there were different systems for the deck? do you have a video comparing and explaining that?
@thomashall88673 місяці тому
I have a red deck in English that I got around 1972. One interesting thing about this is Grimond had a kind of display rack they sent to the store with several of the decks they offered at the time. The Ettailla, Leonormand, book of destiny ect. Wish I'd bought them all! I saw a 30s deck in England which my friend bought for about fifty dollars. (This was the Eighties) Like you I'd love to see a 30 deck or a good repo of it if someone will ever redo it. The Marteau deck is an important Esoteric deck and was the only one available back when I bought mine. Its criticized some today by people who go back to total ect but it is extremely important as an occult tool
