Luke, thank you very much for your podcast, I watch it periodically and I like it very much. I live in Russia, and this situation with the invasion in Ukraine and the whole war that is currently taking place in this region, of course, is concerning all of us. It's terrible, exhausting and unhuman action. We're all against this war , we're against putin and all what he's doing in the world. We're getting very scared for what this so-called politician is saying about the nuclear strike, about the invasion, about the war, about killing civilians and killing in general. Thank you for your words and your understanding of this tense situation. I want you to know that we against the war and it is very dangerous to have such opinion in Russia nowadays. I could go in prison for these words and all critiсism of russian system. Sorry for my poor English ..that's why I listen for your lessons.

I am a listener from Malaysia. I recently decided to start learning English seriously, and then I found you. I was originally debating whether to learn American English or British English. After listening to your podcast, I decided to follow you because I fell in love with your voice.

Hi, as a person with an accent struggling between 100 difrent accents in London I am not happy about this practice. I do try to sound understandable to others to make sure that my communication is smooth and nice rather then people ask me several times to repeat. Then I would deliberately not to watch or listen a program with that lady to learn wrong prounatoation form her and make my life harder. And if she really want to show people who she really is my advice is to do good journalism in a way that people will talk about her work rather then accent. Which is now a huge distraction from her work, gives her only free advertisment.
@LukesEnglishPodcast15 годин тому
She doesn’t have wrong pronunciation, she just has an accent that doesn’t sound completely British. Her message is that clarity is very important and this is what we should aim for. The rest is just a question of identity. Plus, we are talking about her accent and not her journalism, because this is a channel about learning English.
@TheTTime215 годин тому
Luck try for one be an expat who struggles in a world where everyone is trying to highlight their identity, how special their are instead bring work to work. My every helpline phonecall takes ages becouse people brings their identity and it looks like : I'm really sorry by English is not my first language would you like to speak slowly /repeat please, 3 h later... Thank you very much for that egocentric attitude. Where I need to pretend to be limited to solve my banking problem.

I haven't finished watching the video, but I believe many people, like myself, perceive it as referencing Israelis as an example, amidst their aggressive actions against the land and people of Palestine. 🇵🇸

Nobody is talking about Israelis here.

@@joeroberson339 LOL she mentions Israelis in passing along with a dozen other nationalities as examples of the multicultural situation at her school. Come on. This is not a conversation about Israel. It’s a conversation about her English, her accent and what that means in the context of the English speaking world and her job as a broadcaster.
