What is the pedal doing? I'm new to piano it seems that you would have to use the pedal for sustain. But when I use the stain for the left hand I have sustained in the right hand Melody as well. This is not actually what I want

I've played some piano at school, now playing for myself as a hobby. I'm usually freestyling or trying to imitate songs I hear. My main patter is 1 5 8 5, or 1 5 10 5 9 5 8 5. Looking forward for more cool patterns as I'm starting to get bored of them 😂

Better yet, retune the piano to Persian scales for some sublime sounds.
