Hi, I can't help but thank you, I'm starting to make some knives and your information is really valuable.

This helped me tremendously. Thank you so much for explaining F360 usage in this context!

As a certified HAAS tech, this was a beautiful restoration! It's very clear you care about your girls! Great video!

I would love to see how you made your small sanding block!

You are a really skilled maker! I need to get one of your knives these days :) can i ask what that griddle is? Brand? Model?
@legenware19 днів тому
I didn't know you could sharpen in both directions. Also I didn't know about the burrr. Thanks! How do you get the stuf of the grinding stones?
@dirtyketchup25 днів тому
Do you mind if I ask? I use a similar system with Diamond stones. I found that when I followed the method you showed, I tend to get less toothy edges because by removing all of the previous scratches, the finer stones remove most of the teeth. I use this almost exclusively on kitchen knives, and now I tend to do saw strokes with coarse stone, then alternating push strokes with the same stone (to remove any burr), and then gentle alternating push strokes with a super fine stone, to help clean up the apex. I find that this seems to leave better serrations for a toothier edge that holds up longer against use on foods/cutting board. I find that when I pass through all the higher grit stones for a super clean edge, I just don’t get much bite in the blade after a while as the super microscopic teeth just get worn down. My coarse Diamond stone is about 220mesh and my extra fine is 1200mesh. Thoughts? I’m always open to finding a flaw in my Methods.

This made it so much easier in skef taught and I have a job I have to make 9 knifes in 6 days and jigs for the knives to be made on plus the scales I honestly think I'm not able to do all I was asked for but I warned the client and they are nice people so they realize I'm doing my best

How do you keep your balls from giggling when filing ? It drives me nuts. Also, what is a mill file ? Is that what he's calling a single cut ?
@mrechbregerМісяць тому
Filthy? Your machine was shining before you cleaned it compared with the Mitsubishi machine I'm working on 1mm dirt mix on every part of it, never cleaned
@mrechbregerМісяць тому
So you still run the original controller / software with it and drip feed it? Or did you put another controller into it? I'm in progress of fixing a 20 year old Mitsubishi based CNC, I think about changing them to LinuxCNC as soon as possible.

Your videos are so good! I hope you start posting more again soon. Currently working on a button lock folder (first knife) and trying to figure out how much to hard mill and what tool paths work best in Fusion. So much learning still to do and your content is very helpful (as I squint to see your toolpath choices in Fusion :-))!

Man thank you so much for your videos. There are alot of how to videos out there for everything and I have to say your video on what you need and how you do it is a big help (especially for the guys who want to start doing kydex holsters for knifes and guns like myself) I do have one question for you and I would really appreciate it if you would tell me what size kydex you used and where you purchased it (.60, .80 thickness I mean). Thank you for your videos super big help 👍🏼.

Even on 1082 my expensive file didn’t last. It was so dull and I didn’t get a very good fist knife

not sure where you got your dlc done because ceracoat is nowhere near dlc dlc is hundreds of times more corrosive resistant than ceracoat
@GoughCustom2 місяці тому
The coating itself is very corrosion resistant yes, however it's also porous to some extent and these blades were not stainless. So it's not the DLC that's corroding, it's the steel underneath.

Looks streaky. Would scotchbrite pads work?

Aaron is one of my first knife makers. Imagine having one of his first hand cut knives. I took a number of cues from his process and design.

While running one of the machine shops at JPL in Pasadina, I purchased a FADAL in the 90's and later another. The machinest loved them and made a lot of parts that ended up on Mars and other places. Well done sir.
@yuxuansun82713 місяці тому
I find that when I do a full flat grind, when I file the second side, there’s too much flex in the blade for my file to engage with enough pressure. The blade bends and twists because the finished side doesn’t touch the shelf, so I cannot file the opposite side…

Awesome tutorial. It was very clear and comprehensible even for a person like me who started learning Fusion360 2 days ago ))) i'm great fan of blades and finally came to an idea to create my own. Thanks!
@justinlucenti71203 місяці тому
Would you say the DLC would perform that well on its own, or did the base layer have an impact? I wish there was a DLC only coated to remove the question.
@Captaraknospider3 місяці тому
I separate my layers and sand without out setting the hardware. Then after I clean the inside so there is no debris inside. I then set the hardware.
@garymillwacker84863 місяці тому
DUDE! That's incredible. I utterly loved it when it turns out you used your own jig on a shop grinder with custom CBN wheels. And CBN wood strop is the best. I have long decided my dream sharpening supplies would be custom CBN, and that wood strops are the most precise. The level of precision from start to finish on these is outstanding.
