Thank you for this. I live in another town in eastern Turkey that suffered a massacre during the early years of the Turkish republic. You can look up the Zilan Massacre of Erciş. It's really close to the border with Iran.

It may not be Christmas season, quite far from it actually, but there is something in the melody, your voice and the scenery you filmed that radiates a calm, peaceful sentiment of melancholy, no matter the season.

Epic - l loved every minute. I can visualise the whole story. I don’t know, how you do it, that the events are so real, and intriguing. I am enjoying your stories so much, the instruments, the voices...thank you. Fascinating, and l learn continuously about historic events small and big, and charismatic characters. 🌺🌿🌏 It’s off topic totally. But l wonder, what you think about modern pop-music of Iran. Usually, l am not much into this type of music, but the Iranian Bands with singers like Shanmehr Aghili, Khali Ehaam, Evan Band, Xaniar & Sirvan Khosravi, and especially Mohsen Yeganeh with his National “hymn” Behet Ghol Midam are also capturing my senses, as the lyrics, and the soulful singing are intriguing as well in concerts. The audiences are mesmerising too, as they are singing so enthusiastically along, and are so well behaved. I am fascinated by everything Iranian: history, culture, religions through the centuries, endurance, resilience, and more. That’s how l found your music, and first l thought you are Iranian, living in Iran. Greetings from Australia.

Thanks for the kind words. As for your question, it really depends on which artist we're talking about. Modern Iranian pop is divided into two categories: modern pop that is actually Iranian, and Western pop music that happens to be sung in Persian, made by Iranians. My views on the latter are simple: it's not Iranian music. Slapping Persian lyrics on a guitar chord progression with a nice Western piano tune is rejecting a 1400 year old native tradition and replacing it with a foreign one. Imagine Americans suddenly ditching their music to replace it entirely with Japanese music theory. As for modern pop that is actually Iranian and conserves that modal, eastern flavour, I love it. I'm all for electronic beats, modern fusion and pushing Iranian music forward, but making music more Western isn't modernising. It's just Westernising it and removing its native eastern sound. An example of what I think is modern Iranian pop music is this song; modernises the Iranian sound without Westernising it: ukposts.info/have/v-deo/g2SXdqZ8n6aHwp8.htmlsi=4ZFz74_rHHxETBCN

The lyrics of the song are a very beautiful work that describes the situation of stateless Kurds who left their homes and homelands in memory of Saddam's massacre of Kurds in Halabja.

I'am guessing Farya Faraji is more Iranian because he still has yet to make Assyrian, Akkadian, and Sumerian music. Which would be amazing to here spoken high Akkadian by him.
